She started off so well. In films like 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl' and 'Ishaqzaade' she was the epitome of an indomitable spirit; an actor who is aware of her strengths as well as shortcomings. The fairy tale continued with 'Shuddh Desi Romance' and 'Hasee Toh Phasee'.
Then from Dawaat-e-Ishq onwards everything went wrong, be it her obsession with appearing reed-thin or later working with Arjun Kapoor, these two were literally the worst decisions of her life.
Do you think she is unlucky because when she started out, she was touted as the next big thing. Now, she is nowhere to be seen.
Edited by mintyblue - 3 years agoShe is much much better than the likes of Alia and Shraddha.
Insecurity with weight is what dampened her career. There was a point she was unbearable offscreen with the weight chant. Also tried hard to fit in KJos gang
totally agree with everything you said .. she is talented for sure and could have done so much better ..
She was fantastic in Hasee Toh Phasee and Shuddh Desi Romance. She should have stuck to her uniqueness and not tried to be a cookie cutter barbie doll. I read that she was offered Piku!!
Hindsight is of course 20/20 vision and she was young then with little backing except PC who was struggling herself but her USP was that she was the anti Alia, she could have thrived alongside her. Like DP/Anu.
She has a good lineup coming up. Lets see.
Parineeti and Vaani ruined their careers because of insecurity.
The reason for Vaani's insecurity was Aditya Chopra.
The reason for Pari's insecurity was? Us audience!!! We audience only accept actresses with hot figure in mainstream movies. This insecurity led to Pari's downfall.
She took 3 years of break from movies to reduce her weight. Imagine how insecure she felt because of her weight that she took such a long break only to reduce her weight when she was at the peak of her career.
But she got nothing after reducing her weight either. Audience moved on from her when she came back. She too lost her charm along with her weight when she came back.

I agree partly with what you say. But Vidya went through the same journey. People were mocking her for her full figure and she tried to fit in by wearing all the latest "western" outfits. After again being made fun of (SRK and Saif once gave her an award for being the worst dressed celebrity) she gave it up and instead concentrated on her plus points - immense talent, wit and being graceful under pressure.
