For you Jey....for making remember this beautiful scene again

An Innocent Love or Cruel Betrayal

Reyansh and Pranati’s love story has been one story that just not split people into groups.

But even split an individual into halves, where one half can understand and relate to Pranati, her pain, her frustration, her anger and her inability to love a guy. They all stem from her relationship with Reyansh and she has aright to be angry with Reyansh for breaking her heart so cruelly.

At the same time, there is that other half which relates with Reyansh, understand where he is coming from, the motives behind his every actions which proves that he is not a bad person just someone who didn’t realise the impact of his actions.

If it is tough to reconcile between our own two halves, then how can we expect them to reconcile so easily.

Its like they say ‘Log ache ya bure nahi hote, waqt acha ya bura hotahai’, same was the situation with them. That time, situation, their age, and their maturity thereby their immaturity played a greater role than their own feelings or for that matter, their love.

Before we could analyse the scene, we need to know the backdrop of it.

A girl about to get married to her best friend, who knows everything about her past and accepts her wholehearted, wants to move on her past love so that she can make new beginning with him without her being held back by her past.

Whereas the guy who pretend to not care about anything in the worlde specially not love and actually runs away from it, is triggered into remembering the past by just one question from his dadi.

That she can't believe that his nomadic heart never beaten for a girl, leading both to remember their past and reach the same place, which witnessed their love and holds a special place in their heart.

The beauty of it lies in the shift of emotions one feels while watching it that at the end, one end up becoming divided and don’t know whom to choose or which side is correct.

Thus stems the need to know the whole story before coming on any conclusion. One scene two perspectives, one can try to be impartial but can never be due to the feels it gives.

Both reach their special place in remembrance of their shared past, the moments they spent in the college, one can see theirs was a strong connection but then how did they end up here.

One side Dadi’s words seems to cause turbulence in Rey’s heart and he wanders almost unknowingly to it and on the other side Pranati comes there knowingly in her bid to let go of her past so that she can do justice to her new relationship she was about to enter and move on from her past.

So she carries the Pandora box in which she has bound her love for Rey and kept it with her, whose burden she was carrying for past 8 years.

Seeing those locks tied to the wishing tree makes them sink deeper into the memories’ whirlpool, making them remember the time when they tied the lock themselves.

For Rey, it seems to the place where he let his emotions take control as rest of time, he follows his brain, but this is the one place where truly his heart is free, feels and even lives as Pranati is no longer in his life, so settles in because he knows that his memories will not leave him for some time.

Pranati on other hand remember the time when Rey was uncomfortable considering their families as one family. It seems like she is thinking of the markers she missed in her love to know Rey’s true intention.

Whereas Rey is shown remembering all the fun times they had together in college.

Pranati in her attempt to come out of the memories notices the lock they tied together and her contempt for Rey comes out such that she jerks the lock away as if it is something unholy. In her anger, she prays to have Rey come in front of her at that very moment so that she can take out her anger and frustration and let him know that she is moving on with a really good guy so unlike him.

A wish that came true but in twisted way, that even with him being there, she wasn’t able to see him.

When one is connected to someone by soul, their call will always be felt by other person, same was the case with Pranati and Reyansh, even after 8 years, their connection was so strong that Reyansh felt her call and looked around to see if someone really called him.

A connection that was not just bound by love but by anger and pain where one held on to it in her hurt and was able to express it in her anger and the other held on to it in his melancholy and could only express it in his silence.

Rey’s friend calls him up to know about his whereabouts and realises that his friend is sad by the tone of his voice, as only a true friend can.

He even knows that the only thing which can makes Rey sound like that is Pranati’s memories thereby its symbol, the Wishing Tree.

So advise him to move from there and come back to the present, great advice as a friend, but as one knows memories are tough to forget especially if they are bittersweet. It gives sadistic pleasure which by the looks of it, Rey had indulge multiple times in these past 8 years.

Pranati on other hand wants to get rid of Rey’s memories, so that she could justice to Archit and his love, something which her rational mind understand and her heart has become silent to protest anymore.

They both remember the time they had tied the lock on the tree together, which symbolized their love for each other.

The past Rey was so mesmerized by Pranati’s beauty that he was always looking for ways to come closer to her. There is an innocence in it too, like the way he rubs his nose against her, yes there was strong physical attraction but there was tenderness also.

Rey in his immaturity didn’t understand the importance of wishing tree and asked for materialistic things which made Pranati laughs at him and make him understand that the wishing tree is for love birds, who pray that their love is forever and ever.

She wants their love to be like that, bound by that lock which can only be opened by both of them together.

For the past Rey it seems to be a concept beyond his realm of understanding, something he doesn't believe in and one can judge him as a player, we all did like Pranati.

But when he is shown still carrying that lock’s key with him, it makes one pause and try to understand him, which pretty sure Pranati also would have done, had she been aware about it. The side which was trying to understand Rey,felt happy that there are some redeeming qualities as Rey seems irredeemable till now.

But the other side which supports Pranati immediately takes over, as the past Rey in his attempt for physical intimacy, seems to answer Pranati’s question about if he truly loves her as a yes, making it seems like a deal rather than expression of his love.

Also Pranati berates herself that in her naivety she never realized his true intentions. Her anger and frustration is so overpowering that the side which supports Rey can’t get a word in due to the fact that there is nothing to say but held one’s head in shame if that is true.

But is it true, looking at present Rey holding on to the key which ideally should be thrown off the minute they broke up, makes one curious again as to what exactly had happened between them, as there is more to meet the eye.One wishes to see their complete back story to know how they reached the junction they were at.

Pranati finally burns all the memories she had of their time together and goes from there.

Rey on realizing something is burning, tries to call her back. But having decided to move on she doesn’t turn back.

Rey seeing the pyre tries to calm the fire unknowingly tries to save the memories symbolizing their love.

But it is burnt beyond recognition, as phoenix rises from his ashes only to fly higher same way one could only hope that in future they both learn from the past mistakes and Rey after going through with his penance could atone for his foils and they can get back together.

The beauty of the scene lies in the bifurcation on oneself, where both the sides seems right and wrong at the same time.

Beautiful 💗.. wordless.Thankyou so much. This is why we want PB back. It's touched our hearts too deep. We've become a part of Pranati and Reyansh.I really really pray that the show returns with the same cast. They deserve it. So many shows that's devoid of storyline or acting or intensity has been taken on digital platform. The question as to why not PB still isn't answered. I hope our questions are answered and our wishes come true.

Vasuuuu!!!

What a heartfelt and beautiful analysis....

Loved your premise of the 2 halves and their continuous back and forth!👍

Have a confession to make....it is this scene and everything about it...from the conceptualisation...acting....subtleties...that attracted me to PB....

That here was a series, that despite being in the mainstream genre, had the potential to be different...

The wishing tree...those locks...Prani’s misgivings...that key in Rey’s hand...the “so close yet so far” vibe of the scene....was so WELL DONE!

Loved reminiscing this iconic scene with you, my Dear!❤️

Word, Kuayva!

This series has so much potential (I purposefully keeping referring to it in the present tense), since it’s not over till it’s over, right? :)

Even the actors are so good...especially Kunal, Aneri, Vibhaji, and Riva....

Hope all our efforts bear fruit....until such time, we will make do with such lovely posts...
