A snake in the house

It might be an insult to the snake but Kavya today reminded me of a snake that has slithered its way into the Shah household. Brazen, desperate, heartless, insolent, over stepping limits, Kavya was shameless to the extreme.

Usurping Anupama’s place at the dining table near Vanraj, serving him tepla, wresting Anupama’s sari gifted by Vanraj to his wife all this paled in comparison to Kavya’s rage and impudence today. Berating Samar in his own house, dictating how the Shah household should behave, suggesting that Vanraj and her should slink off to the bedroom to conduct their “meeting”, her fury at the wifely duties Anupama performs for her husband, her forceful shoving of the clothes apart in the closet, and lastly her gall in trying to don Anupama’s mangalsutra revealed an unhinged and evil home breaker. Kavya comes across as severely immature as which woman in her right mind even if she was having an affair with the man, would openly react this way with the lady of the house? The way she looks at Anupama with daggers in her eyes and then at Vanraj to back her up, speaks of a deluded immature infatuation with the man. Kavya is better off with Anirudh.

Anupama has made a grave mistake in keeping this snake in her home. She does not realize the danger posed by this slimy imposter in the house.

As for Vanraj, he called Kavya an outsider when she interfered in his dealing with Samar and was not too happy with her commandeering of Anupama’s sari. He also stopped her in the pre-cap from donning his wife’s managlsutra.  He has voiced to Kavya that he would like to keep “them” separate from his family. Is Vanraj merely using Kavya? Does he want to have his cake and eat it too? Meaning having a doting wife with loving family and a mistress on the side?

I truly hope Vanraj does not get married to Kavya. I wish her true colors - immaturity, misplaced possessiveness, arrogance, disregard for everyone except herself - are made apparent and he comes to his senses. Not that Anupama should forgive him ever but it would be good to see him afraid to lose his wife and beautiful family over his fancy for a pretty face at work. Kavya’s assumption of a right in the household that she doesn’t belong to, her anger at Anupama’s place in Vanraj’s home, are these remnants from her own broken relationship with Anirudh?

Anupama’s reasoning with herself about speaking up to keep Kavya and Vanraj going into the bedroom to conduct their meeting, her stopping Kavya from scolding Samar, her baashan (warning?) to Kavya that husband and wife are one, bespeak a character development in Anupama that will ignite a lot of drama when Vanraj’s truth is outed.

My take on the whole thing is that Kavya is actually angry with Vanraj that her marriage broke up "because of him"...

Now she wants to expose Vanraj in front of his family, and hopes that they will all leave him once they find out the truth, so she can then marry him.

She can't to see him "having his cake and eating it", (as you put it so well), while she bares the brunt of their affair with her husband leaving her...

Vanraj probably thought he could use and throw Kavya from his life when he wants but she turned out to be smarter than him!

You may be right.  The two of them deserve each other, and the misery that comes with their being together.
