Do you think suicide is a crime?

(Not related to Sushant or anybody)

Just a general question:

Do you think killing yourself is crime ? 

Should this be allowed? To end our lives whenever  we want? 

Suicide can't be a crime as it is not possible to punish the person who committed suicide.

Attempt to suicide is a crime and it shouldn't be. We should have complete right on what we want to do with our lives. We never asked for this life and if anyone feels that it's not worth living and they should end it, then let it be.

What solution does "punishing" the dead even offer when they aren't even around to do their time, so to speak? 

Suicide is an unacceptable act that damns their close ones to a lifelong sense of "would have, could have, should have" but it's not "punishable" simply because punishing the dead is not effective and will do nothing to prevent people who are alive from taking that step.

There should be a strong deterrent against suicide but it requires compassion and should start with mental health awareness programs along with effective therapies that don't strictly revolve around medicating people. 

No it isn't, they need help and care.

But.. it's a disaster for the ones who are close to the person and are affected by it.

Suicide is a crime in my opinions . There is numerous way to solve the problems.  If you want to end your life then why you care about your love ones ? Why you take stress ? 

This is a question hard to answer. People easily say suicide is for losers and everyone should face the problems not run from it. But what if the situation is grave? Imagine a girl or even a boy is about to sold in prostitution or to be a slave to someone then what does girl or boy do? Accept their upcoming horrible life or end their life to avoid that horrible life? What if a girl or boy person suffers domestic violence and has no support and is not even able to get out of the house? What will that person do the first chance they get? Obviously end their life to stop further sufferings.

A 19-year-old student, studying first year in Madurai Kamaraj University committed suicide by hanging after his parents refused to buy him a bike. J Ananth was found hanging at his home in Veerapandian Nagar near Karuppayurani. Police said he had demanded his parents to immediately buy him a two-wheeler so that he can commute to the institution. But they refused it citing the family's financial situation and promised to buy a year later.

What can we do to prevent these cases?

Suicide is such a tough tragic topic

I don’t think it’s a crime but no denying the fact that it leaves a lot of pain and guilt to close ones.There are lives which get affected unfortunately 

You know,when somebody has the mindset of committing suicide,it is mostly because they feel that the world is better off without them,their family is better off without them.Feeling worthless and hopeless.And that is the worst feeling ever

Or it is to end the pain within.There are certain events which have the ability to leave a trauma for life.

I feel suicide brings about extreme reactions.I have seen most of the people consider suicide as cowardice and weakness which I don’t agree with.

I wish people were more understanding.And if not understanding,atleast careful with their choice of words.So tired of the world which believes that bullying is normal,but then what else can we expect from shallow society.Even if you emerge out of bullying there is something which dies within you.

Not to mention that it is so tiring to live with mental illness

Suicidal thoughts are the worst.

They should not treat it as a crime.Also there should be some less attachment.The issue is when one person goes like this it has a cascading negative effect in family.It is easier to commit suicide if society and family wasn’t there.Wish it was easy to go this way 

You can't punish/prosecute the one already dead
