Miss the old forum.

This place Isn’t like before. I miss some of old members, specially few of my friends 😵

How i wish this place goes back to what it used to be in 2015/16😒

or before India Got New independence ie before 2014 where all was good and non toxic 

2014 merely reinforced what we are. There were ample incidents of rabid communalism even before it. What were the violence during partition examples of ? There were so many massacres in the whole of India and not just in the areas being partitioned.. the terrorism in Punjab?..the anti sikh riots... massacres in the north east ? A lot of things happened in India even before Modi..even before British rule maybe... while foreign invasions were bad..even the interiors of India weren't idyllic..marauding armies looted, killed and desecrated places of worship... 

Sufi and bhakti saints did make people pious  but that didn't stop dacoity, thuggery (thugs were very very violent) ..caste based violence was very much rife..profiteering and black marketing when people are starving was definitely a part of our glorious culture even before the British entered..

Now what about the world? ISIS, al Qaeda, boko haram are violent religious groups...they have killed several of the people who at least on the surface seemed their own... killing based on religion is wrong but non-religious extremist groups haven't fared any better 

Ltte was formed on ethnic lines..both Hindus and Christians were part of the top rung..they were ruthless (and so were the Sinhala far right groups)

Some of the civil wars in Africa were also due to ethnic divide 

Pol pot was a communist ...his regime caused 1.5 million Cambodians to die..his killing fields were notorious for the deaths they caused 

Shining path of Peru was also communist..it was brutal too

Leftist regimes in south and central America were very brutal 

Mao's famine was also disastrous 

Left wing extremism in India is also very brutal 

The world wars, which happened due to a multitude of reasons including religious factors, does show how brutal people are...

There were crusades,  religious persecution..burning people at stake in Europe too..

The drug  cartels of Latin  america have killed so many law abiding citizens...along with members of rival gangs

Hatred among people is nothing new...The new regime in India just made people on extreme ends of the divide vocal...the number of decent folks is the same as before..

We the humans are a very kameena species..definitely not as civilized as we think..if so we wouldn't see people coming to loot victims of accidents..a lot of people loot victims and don't even bother calling an ambulance...a lot of people do selfless service during natural calamities,  but even there for every selfless person, there is an equivalent jerk...

These examples are not meant to tell that we should resign to the situation and do nothing...a part of this rant is also because some elders blame mobile and internet for everything...

We are a violent specie and the peaceful and logical sections among us must gain the upper hand..I feel that neither right wing or left wing is the panacea- centrist is the way to go

P.S- this isn't directed at any member..it is more of my cynicism about the human race in general which keeps finding new excuses to kill one another

Every word you said is so upsetting and so true. But it's just sad and heartbreaking to see where things stand- SO MUCH HATE. The film industry was my one refuge- as imperfect as it was- but even that has not been spared.
