Shivin's parents expected him to take up the career of a businessman, but he craved for more in his life.
He never considered acting as a career option. When he was in the final year of his college, he got his portfolio made by a professional photographer for uploading the pictures on his Facebook. Soon he got some modeling offers and started making good pocket money. His pictures then impressed the creative team of "Suvreen Guggal - Topper of the Year" who asked him to audition for their show.
Subsequently, Shivin went to Mumbai, bagged the lead role in the show, and the rest, as they say, is happy history.
Shivin started off his career as Yuvraj Singh in "Suvreen Guggal - Topper of the year" opposite Smriti Kalra on Channel V from 2013-2015.
Yuvraj means "crown prince". Yuvraj Singh was the embodiment of his name. He was a handsome, carefree, "Haryana ka chorra" with the catchphrase "Bhai tera cheetah hai". He was a prankster and yet soft at heart. He couldn't resist adventures and girls couldn't resist him, but his heart only belonged to the one, Suvreen Guggal.
Shivin's first show, Suvreen Guggal, got him enough acknowledgment in the Indian TV industry. Shivin, being a sportsperson, played Yuvraj's athleticism amazingly.
Shivin was next seen from 2013–2015 in Star Plus' Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera as Ranvijay Singh opposite Farnaz Shetty. He was initially hesitant of doing a soap opera, but his mother encouraged him to take up Ranvi's role since she loved the serial.
Ranvijay Singh (Ranvi) was a farmer's son, who not only grew crops but also grew dreams. His name means "winner". He dreamt of fulfilling his father's dream of making a Krishi Vidyalaya in his village. A man of values and integrity, he was an ideal brother to his step-sister Veera, who got her educated sacrificing his own education and took care of her like her own mother.
Ranvijay was also an ideal son to his mother and an ideal husband to his wife, Gunjan. A musician at heart, he went on to become a famous singer eventually.
Shivin's portrayal of Ranvi in Ek Veer ki Ardas...Veera would always remain memorable.
In 2017, Shivin was seen in the Season 2 of Cahaya Cinta as Reyhan opposite Margin Wiehreem.
Reyhan, whose name means "Gift of God" , was a rich and handsome man, who reunited two twin sisters, Aisha and Ashanti, who were separated in childhood. He helped the sisters a lot. Eventually, he ended up falling in love with Aisha while Ashanti ended up falling for Reyhan.
Cahaya Cinta 2 that aired on ANTV was his first International TV show. He has a massive fan following in Indonesia owing to the popularity of Veera.
Unfortunately, he had to exit the show due to a family emergency. His father had suffered kidney failure, so he remained absent from the industry for more than a year to support his dad and mom.
Shivin then took up Colors' Internet Wala Love where he played Jai Mittal opposite Tunisha Sharma during the course of the year 2018.
Jai means "victory". He belonged to the affluent Mittal family who was famous for Mittal bhujia. He was an RJ by profession, and his life revolved around his fan following in social media, his friends, and his family. Playful and prankster, he was also very protective of his family, friends, and people he cared for. This protectiveness turned his equation with his frenemy and co-host Aadhya to the sweetest relationship of love, in "Internet Wala Love".
Shivin then got one of his most acclaimed shows, Beyhadh 2, where he played Rudra Roy opposite Jennifer Winget's Maya Jaisingh. It aired on Sony TV between late 2019 and early 2020.
Rudra, on translation, means "the roarer". Rudra Roy, born to the affluent Roys, is fearless, strong and has a strong moral compass. He loves passionately and is very loyal, something that is very rare in today's times. His love can change the determination of the strongest. He can even sacrifice himself to bring light into the life of his love.
Shivin is highly appreciated for his performance in Beyhadh 2, Sony TV since it has started on December 4th, 2019. People loved his on-screen chemistry with Jennifer Winget, and his onscreen best friend in the show Kangan Nangia.
The show ended abruptly owing to the Coronavirus outbreak, leaving fans utterly disappointed. About the same, Shivin commented that the show was of fine quality and the story line was well consumed by the fans. The abrupt ending would only set things off. He said that the story of Maya and Rudra needed more time. A logical yet unexpected ending would have been the best for the story. But he also added that the people’s situation at the moment comes first and hence he stood with the decision of the makers.

Shivin went on to participate in Colors' Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 after denying the show many times.
He did not accept the offer previously primarily because of his fears which he said he was not prepared to face. This time, however, he decided to ask himself "Why not?" and faced his fears.
He has thalassophobia (fear of deep waters), a fear he faced both in KKK 10 and Beyhadh 2 where he shot in the Ganges for about seven hours.
Besides the fear of deep waters, he also has acrophobia (fear of great heights) and creepy crawlies. His fans saw him conquer many of his fears like a hero, and also give up on some. He got eliminated on 18 July 2020, acquiring 5th position.
Shivin feels that his personal experiences also helped him grow as an actor, especially whenever his roles require him to portray a range of emotions. He said in an interview, that he understood the real meaning of empathy when he went through a difficult phase of his life when his father was put on a ventilator because of kidney failure.
He likes to use a waiting period for an actor productively and works on himself by learning new things and honing his craft. He believes that if he wants to break stereotypes, he has to upgrade himself.
Shivin featured in a video song “Dil Zaffran” with Palak, sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and produced by T-series. It was released in Oct 2018.
In Nov 2019, Shivin featured in the music video “Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi” with Divya Khosla Kumar. It is sung by Neha Kakkar and produced by T-series.
Shivin starred opposite Vartika Singh in Times Music’s “Chandeya Fitoor” in June 2020. It is sung by Shahid Mallya & Deedar.
Shivin's Bollywood Debut, Dheet Patangey was released on Hotstar premium on March 2, 2020. He was seen in the character of Maddy.

Shivin was offered this film when he was seeking to debut in a Bollywood film. Surprisingly, he had initially refused to hear the script of Dheet Patangey as it was about four friends. He wanted to do something solo and like a love story, like a typical commercial film with a good launch. But when he signed the film he gave his 100 percent, he also learned mixed martial arts for his debut.
The movie was originally meant to release in 2016 in theaters, which got delayed due to some unknown reasons.
Shivin also appeared in advertisements like OSSUM Body Mist, Kurkure, Platinum Evara, and Pran Litchi Drink.
Despite his looks, the actor is always on the lookout for different roles.
“I can't help my youthful image as I am a certain age and I can't play a 41-year-old man now at this young age. I obviously want to try out different roles that have different parameters but the parameter should not be age, it should be a distinctive role. Young hero roles are offered to me and I don’t mind them as long as they are meaty enough.” he said.
After acting in different love stories, he would like to try his hand at mythological shows, web series, and action dramas. He would like to play an army man as their personality and charisma are totally different. The other reason is after his college he wanted to join the army. So, he would like to live the life of an army man in the form of his role.
