Those who killed Sush thought Sush case will also be closed as suicide. They could not anticipate the public outrage. The public outrage is unprecedented.

I could be wrong but I think in India, its either public outrage or nothing at all. Justice is rarely served due to the disgusting levels of corruption everywhere, especially in the higher up positions. Plus, everything is so politically drivenšŸ¤¢. Media may be making a circus, but for Sushant's family, the other choice is basically the case being closed forever.

Exactly!! Take the Nirbhaya case, take Jessica Lal murder case. If not for the public outrage, I shudder to think what would have happened to the perpetrators of the crime.

There was another famous case back in 2008

Neeraj Grover murder case

Neeraj Grover was a television executive working for Synergy Adlabs, a Mumbai based production house. He was found dead in May 2008, a crime for which actress Maria Susairaj and her boyfriend Lieutenant Emile Jerome Mathew were arrested. Mathew was eventually found guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and for destroying evidence. Susairaj was acquitted of the killing itself, but found guilty of destroying evidence. The killing and subsequent trial received significant press coverage in India.

The verdict

Maria Monica Susairaj was found not guilty of the killing, but guilty of destroying evidence and was sentenced to a maximum three years' imprisonment. She was released the following day with time served

Jerome Mathew was found guilty of culpable homicide not amounting murder and of destroying evidence. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the killing, and 3 years for destroying evidence. The sentences will be served concurrently, with 3 years time served already applied

The court has also fined Susairaj and Mathew ā‚¹50,000, to be paid to Neeraj Grover's family.

This exactly.

It's a media circus. But if not for this circus the case would have been closed. And if not closed then just left pending with the files gathering dust

There must have been many deaths which were covered up as suicides and accidents. Divya Bharati is being one.

What is different is the huge public enrage and their refusal to believe this theory. I feel, murderers did not anticipate this. (They thought, they can get away like earlier "suicides").

I remember there was alot of media coverage when she died..there were rumours that rahul had pushed her into escort service.. And she was bankrupt when she died even though she was one of tv's biggest stars.. Apparently he took all her money..

The media coverage died out after that rahul got bail.. Ab case kahin latka hua hoga and no one except the parents care

Bail is the biggest issue... Ek baar yeh mil jaaye phir case ekdum thanda ho jaata hai

Anyone remember tarun Tejpal.. Tehelkas editor who assaulted his 20 year old employee.. Jab tak he was in jail tab tak news aati rehti thi... Once he got bail on the pretext of his mother's health, no one knows ki uss case mein kuch ho bhi raha hai ya nahin
