...Aditya Chopra tells police in statement.
Main points from statement:
1. Ranveer had already signed Ram Leela before SSR was signed on with YashRaj so they could not have stopped him from working with Bhansali
2. He did an 'outside' film Dhoni while on contract with YashRaj
3. Paani fell apart because of creative differences with Shekhar Kapoor, nothing to do with SSR. After this he left YRF.
What do you guys think? His statement sounds legitimate and I'm sure the documentation (contract dates etc) can be verified easily. So what really happened here? And where did Kangana read this about Aditya Chopra preventing SSR exactly? She said it's out in the public domain, where in the public domain?
Most importantly, who was running the smear campaign against SSR, if not YRF?

YRF didn't stop Sushant from working with other filmmakers': Aditya Chopra tells police
Yash Raj Films (YRF) chairman Aditya Chopra has told the police that the production house did not stop deceased actor Sushant Singh Rajput from working with other filmmakers in the industry. Aditya Chopra was questioned by the investigating team from Bandra police station on Saturday at the Versova police station for over four hours.
Chopra was summoned by police as allegations surfaced that the production house with whom the deceased actor had a three-film contract did not allow Rajput to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Police are also investigating the angle that Rajput had left YRF mid-way while he he had a three-film contract with the production house.
While being under contract with YRF, Rajput had allegedly lost roles in some major films offered by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whereas Ranveer Singh who was also under contract with YRF was allowed to work with Bhansali by YRF.
A police source revealed Chopra said in his statement that before Rajput signed the contract with YRF, Bhansali had already signed Ranveer Singh for the film so there was no way that talent management of YRF did not allow Rajput to work in the film.
Bhansali, who was questioned last week by the investigating team, revealed that he had offered four films to Rajput which were 'Ram-Leela', 'Bajirao Mastani', 'Padmaavat' and a fourth film which didn't take off. One of the first films offered by Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Rajput, 'Goliyon ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela', according to Chopra was signed by Ranveer Singh before Sushant even signed the contract with YRF for three films.
Regarding Bajirao Mastani being offered to Rajput by Bhansali, Chopra in his statement said that Bhansali had never approached the talent management team of YRF to allow Rajput to work in the film. Chopra also said that it was the same period when the talent management team of YRF had allowed Rajput to work in the film 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'.
According to police sources, Chopra went on to say that they never had any issue with Rajput working with any other filmmakers.
Rajput did two films with YRF which were 'Shuddh Desi Romance' and 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshyand'. The third film for which he was signed was 'Paani' being directed by Shekhar Kapur. YRF had spent Rs 5 to 6 crore on the pre-production of the film but the film wasn't made due to creative differences between Kapur and Chopra. The film was shelved only due to creative differences and had nothing to do with Rajput.
Rajput left YRF in 2015 and went on to work with other filmmakers and there weren't any differences or disputes between the production house and the actor.
Police have till date recorded statements of 38 people including Chopra. Some actors also could be summoned by the investigating team to join the probe to know the reason behind the actor's suicide. Rajput was undergoing treatment for depression and the two psychiatrists whom the actor had consulted also recorded their statement with police.
