...Aditya Chopra tells police in statement.

Main points from statement:

1. Ranveer had already signed Ram Leela before SSR was signed on with YashRaj so they could not have stopped him from working with Bhansali

2. He did an 'outside' film Dhoni while on contract with YashRaj

3. Paani fell apart because of creative differences with Shekhar Kapoor, nothing to do with SSR. After this he left YRF.

What do you guys think? His statement sounds legitimate and I'm sure the documentation (contract dates etc) can be verified easily. So what really happened here? And where did Kangana read this about Aditya Chopra preventing SSR exactly? She said it's out in the public domain, where in the public domain?

Most importantly, who was running the smear campaign against SSR, if not YRF?

Read below from the article on India Today :

YRF didn't stop Sushant from working with other filmmakers': Aditya Chopra tells police

Yash Raj Films (YRF) chairman Aditya Chopra has told the police that the production house did not stop deceased actor Sushant Singh Rajput from working with other filmmakers in the industry. Aditya Chopra was questioned by the investigating team from Bandra police station on Saturday at the Versova police station for over four hours.

Chopra was summoned by police as allegations surfaced that the production house with whom the deceased actor had a three-film contract did not allow Rajput to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Police are also investigating the angle that Rajput had left YRF mid-way while he he had a three-film contract with the production house.

While being under contract with YRF, Rajput had allegedly lost roles in some major films offered by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whereas Ranveer Singh who was also under contract with YRF was allowed to work with Bhansali by YRF.

A police source revealed Chopra said in his statement that before Rajput signed the contract with YRF, Bhansali had already signed Ranveer Singh for the film so there was no way that talent management of YRF did not allow Rajput to work in the film.

Bhansali, who was questioned last week by the investigating team, revealed that he had offered four films to Rajput which were 'Ram-Leela', 'Bajirao Mastani', 'Padmaavat' and a fourth film which didn't take off. One of the first films offered by Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Rajput, 'Goliyon ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela', according to Chopra was signed by Ranveer Singh before Sushant even signed the contract with YRF for three films.

Regarding Bajirao Mastani being offered to Rajput by Bhansali, Chopra in his statement said that Bhansali had never approached the talent management team of YRF to allow Rajput to work in the film. Chopra also said that it was the same period when the talent management team of YRF had allowed Rajput to work in the film 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'.

According to police sources, Chopra went on to say that they never had any issue with Rajput working with any other filmmakers.

Rajput did two films with YRF which were 'Shuddh Desi Romance' and 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshyand'. The third film for which he was signed was 'Paani' being directed by Shekhar Kapur. YRF had spent Rs 5 to 6 crore on the pre-production of the film but the film wasn't made due to creative differences between Kapur and Chopra. The film was shelved only due to creative differences and had nothing to do with Rajput.

Rajput left YRF in 2015 and went on to work with other filmmakers and there weren't any differences or disputes between the production house and the actor.

Police have till date recorded statements of 38 people including Chopra. Some actors also could be summoned by the investigating team to join the probe to know the reason behind the actor's suicide. Rajput was undergoing treatment for depression and the two psychiatrists whom the actor had consulted also recorded their statement with police.

Pehli baat toh where did you find Aditya Chopra's statement to police? And if this is indeed his statement then its definitely true cause there will be contract documents to support his claims. He can't randomly make statement without supporting them with actual proofs. Recording your statements at a police station holds far more credibility than screaming on National tv where nobody is gonna bother verifying your claims.

An article on India Today, a legitimate and mainstream news portal with sources confirming, This is not a PR story on BolloywoodLife or SpotBye. Journalist is called Kritika Bansal for India Today, you can check it out. Also I went through Bhansali's statement (again reported by HT and India Today), nowhere did he blame YRF or contractual obligations for SSR not doing his films.

i think only SLB can corroborate as to why SSR refused Ram Leela.....also yea, the dates can also be verified...

but more then work being snatched, the priority shud be the fake metoo allegations.....and for that they need to call Masand......i think nothing else broke him to the extent that the fake allegation did.........calling someone a molester, a rapist is a huge thing......and being from small town and family not related to bollywood, we can only assume how much it mustve hurt him to imagine his family going through insults due to something that is not even true.....

I agree with you about the MeToo allegations and they must've shattered him completely. I cant imagine how embarrassed he mustve been and I think he did cut himself off because of it. But here we are talking about rumours that SSR was "prevented" from doing films due to his contract and a big name actress like Kangana going on national television and making these completely unsubstantiated allegations about SSR and his YRF contract.

Is she above the law to be making such libelous claims? And nobody asking her to pause and check the truth of her statement? Dates, movie offers, contracts are things that can be checked in a minute. She has done a foolish and irresponsible thing.

Adi chopra would definitely have docomrnts and proof to support whatever he said, he wouldn't give a statement without proper preparation and facts. So finally it has been made clear that yrf did not stop ssr from workung in any film, ranveer had already signed ram-leela before ssr joined yrf. Also slb did not say in his statement that yrf stopped ssr from doing any of his films

A day after Director and Producer Aditya Chopra was quizzed by the Mumbai Police in connection with the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, sources have revealed the inside details of Chopra's extensive questioning which had lasted for over 4 hours.

According to police sources, it is alleged that Aditya Chopra's statements contrasted those of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who had claimed that Rajput had given up 4 films-- Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, and another film which was in talks due to being bound under a three-film contract with YRF.

The Yash Raj Films honcho refuted Bhansali's allegations that YRF, which was handling Sushant's career at that time, had stopped SLB from casting Rajput in the film. Aditya Chopra allegedly informed the police that Sanjay Leela Bhansali had not spoken to YRF to cast him in his film Bajirao Mastani.

Chopra also said that Sushant Singh was free to work on projects of his choice despite being under contract with YRF. An example of this was his film-- MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, which he had signed while he was under the YRF contract. Aditya Chopra added that no one from Bhansali's team contacted YRF regarding SLB's film and his wish to cast Sushant Singh Rajput.

As per sources on Bhansali's statement, Sushant Singh Rajput was contract-bound with YRF and his dates were blocked for Paani. Sushant Singh Rajput also allegedly could not sign movies with other banners unless his third film with the YRF banner was shot. But Paani was later shelved due to creative differences between filmmakers.
