How do you look at it
I think it was unfair that at the end of it all, he had no legal kids. His daughter became Yogamaya and disappeared, but he deserved to have more kids. If Vishnu was gonna use him for this strategy of keeping Krishna away from Mathura, he should have given him a couple of kids more so that they'd not have been as forlorn as they were.
Incidentally, is there any mention that they were too old to have kids, as depicted in the serial?
