Should Panipat have been a web series?

Panipat was very well made with well rounded characters, a decent script and decent acting. The film really came into its own with the final battle and the tactics. The final death scenes of Vilasrao and Sadashav were very different. Sadashiv gets a ballet of gracefully choreographed death. But Vilasrao's was sudden and therefore more poignant. So much potential gone just like that in a minute.Just like Abhimanyu in the Mahabharat war.

Even Arjun wasn't that bad. His character was supposed to present a confident, inscrutable face to the world. And a honest and honorable soldier but a poor diplomat who makes mistakes. He was especially good in the scene where he tells his wife not to commit Sati. Just for a moment you can see his fear. What if they won't win?Kudos to the director for not making the lead pair indulge in romantic melodrama. They are both sensible and capable people here.Kriti was adequate in her role and excelled in the fighting scenes . Of course, that's how a woman with no martial training would fight. It does seem ludicrous that she'd kill trained soldiers all by herself.Especially since none of the other women helped her instead of just flapping around helplessly.I can't even remember Vilas Rao's wife and the other Muslim girl even speaking a single dialogue. Sanjay Dutt's character also seems very one note and should have been fleshed out to make a mighty antagonist.Like all other Bollywood historical movies some liberties have been taken with history to make our heroes-the Marathas- look good.

However the major flaw is the length, as the film took its time. You can tell that the director wanted to cram as many details as possible. It really would have made a better 5-6 episode  web series.
