Prologue...
The scene opens on the streets of Kolkata, ‘The City of Joy.’
Three kids, a 4 year old girl, 6 year old boy and a 11 year old boy are seen playing.
'Somu!!! Now it’s my turn! I want to bat!' Said the girl.
'Tara, baas ek over aur over bowling kar do na!Accha, main tumhe fuchka aur bhel puri khilaunga!' Said Somu.
'Promise?' asked Tara.
As soon as the young Lahiri nodded a yes, he was in a bone-crushing hug.
'Aww..chudail kahiki... mujhe maar dalogi kya?' Somu replied.
She burst out laughing, which was so infectious, that it made him laugh too.
Agni, who was fielding, smiled at them...

Day by day, the bond between Somu and Tara the bond strenghtened. Their elderly neighbours would say, THEY ARE RADHA AND KRISHNA.
The two would spend all their waking hours together.
But something WORST happened, and as a result, the two seperated, or had to seperate, unwillingly. Both of their families didn't realise that they played with the emotions.
Jump to Present...
Aarti is going on in the Chatterjee House.
Wearing a Pink churidar is seen standing in front of her Gopal thakur and praying with her hands folded...
Her melodious voice fills the air...
One bye one, every one of the family arrives there...
The matriarch is seen doing the Aarti...
After the arti is done...
Bhalo ma - Suniye ji, yeh lijiye prasad...'
' Sirf chota sa piece!!!' said Tara and glared at him, while Chandni, Bhalo Baba's daughter, is seen fuming at their cute banter.
'Aaj Mandir ja rhi hoon main bhalo ma!' chirped Tara and went out to the mandir with Pishimoni.
On the other hand :-
'Dhrubojyoti Lahiri got the deal, Mr Agni.' said the man.
' Shit! Now who is this?' ....
Character Sketch
Dhrubojyoti Lahiri- widower with two kids. Handsome, smart, ruthless, egoistic and inhumane business tycoon. But is soft towards his children. He showers all his love to his children.
A father everyone wants. A mysterious man with many missions...
Tara- Young girl, stays with the Chaterjees. Lost her Parents at a young age. She is on quest to know about her past. Brought up with the other kids of the house with the same love and care. Yearns to meet her long lost friend.
Agni- the Junior Chaterjee. Smart, easy-going, handsome, loves his family. Has a soft corner in his heart for Tara... Will it eventually turn into love? Lives with insecurities.
Family is first to him.
Bhalo ma ( Manju)- Shekhar's wife. Agni and Chandni's mom.
little shallow, loves money, and prestige. But mostly, she can't deal with the current status of their business and family name.
Will do anything for her children. And for her husband too. Family is family, there is no going back on that. And yes, Tara flitters in and out of the family tag. So sometimes she will feel for Tara. She too has seen the child grow up. There is love in her heart, deep down.
Pisimoni(Anju)-
A woman with a golden heart. She has spent her whole life with this family. She had her dreams, an image of a future, but it didn't happen (you can add something for her past. A past heartbreak, a betrayal, a broken marriage, just give her a reason to fight so strongly for Tara's love) and she brought up the children as her own.
Does have a soft spot for Tara because out of the three children, Tara didn't have anybody else. All of the decisions were taken by Pishimoni. She didn't have to ask Manju for the littlest things. Tara is her child, and she will do anything for her daughter. She will fight the world, and if need be, she will fight her own brother. Tara will get what she deserves, she won't have to live with her dreams crushed. Anju will make sure of it. Hates Mama and Mami, because she knows they are bad influence on kids, especially Chandni.
Chandni-
The youngest member, the baby of the family, and a spoilt brat. She has seen the way her dad, Pishimoni and grandma fawn over Tara and honestly, it is ANNOYING. And it hurts. Always being compared to 'perfect' Tara hurts. Not being as talented as Tara hurts. Not being as beautiful (even if she is the one actively taking care of her nutrition and the health of her hair and skin while Tara does the bare minimum) as Tara, it hurts. Falling behind because her competitor is awesome hurts. Knowing that her father loves someone else's child hurts. Everything hurts. It hurts.
And Tara is such an innocent person, acting like she doesn't know that she is stealing Chadni's share of love. Chadni is the Choudhuri heiress, she is the rich girl. She should be the popular one. But no, everyone loves Tara. Everyone always loves Tara. So she insults Tara whenever she gets the chance. That girl needs to know her place.
Coming to the business situation, they are clearly not that rich. And everyone knows that. So Chadni fakes it. Fakes it and puts on her best mean girl hat and looks down on every single thing. She pretends to hate simpler things because if she admits to liking them then it is because that's all she can afford these days. And Chadni is okay with being seen as a shallow, materialistic person. She will live with it. But she won't tolerate anyone demeaning her father. No one insults the Choudhuri name in front of Chadni. Not if they don't want to face her wrath (she will scream and abandon all dignity. She packs a mean punch and her long nails are sharper than her tongue).
She does so much, and still, everyone only sees Tara. Tara did this. Tara did that. Well, Chadni does a hell lot of things Tara won't do, and it is okay, really, it is. No one needs to appreciate her efforts. This is her family. It is her duty to protect them.
But it won't hurt if she is seen as the daughter she is than the daughter she couldn't be.
Thammi - The neat freak grandmother who follows all rituals from the bottom of her heart. Has a golden heart and wants the best for her grandchildren. She is mostly lost in her own routine and fails to notice the hidden tension in the family, but no wrongdoing goes unpunished. If she knows about it, she will see to it that justice is served. Can be easily convinced by her daughter and Tara. They know her so well. She does have a soft spot for Chadni. She doesn't get her granddaughter's modern ways and she gets upset when she witnesses Chadni demeaning Tara, but she loves Chadni all the same. There is something about the free, casual attitude that warms her heart. She loves to tease the grandkids when she gets a chance (mostly it's Tara and Chadni, but Agni's long absence hasn't changed a thing).
Mami (Shirsha) - Shallow, materialistic woman. Has her eyes set on a good life, but won't work for it. Poisons Manju's mind against Tara because Manju is the only one standing between Tara gaining an important part of the business. Her husband has his eyes set on that, and Tara is the only thorn in their path. She isn't one to shy away from a little physical harm. A slap here, a push there. Nothing serious, but clearly, she doesn't possess any maternal feelings for Tara. She will happily see Tara get married to a bad guy (she will even arrange it herself) or push Tara towards a bad future. Manju won't. She knows it, and she also knows that Manju has the power required to remove Tara from the picture. So she plays on a mother's feelings and manipulates the situation so that Manju sees Tara in the wrong light.
However, all said and done, Shirsha isn't a criminal. Nor does she know any. No kidnapping or accidents. She will easily lock Tara in a room (or lock her out of the house, but Manju will do it too. Difference is that Manju will let her (Tara) in once her anger dies down, Shirsha won't).
Mama - Mama wants the money. The big house, big car, expensive clothes, good food. The good life. And he knows that Mr Choudhuri is in no state to continue the business. The man will crack under the pressure and Mama ji will slither in through the cracks. And for that, he will have to make sure than neither Tara nor Agni are there to support their family. Chadni is a kid, so he heavily underestimates her. What he doesn't know is that his darling niece will rip him apart if she came to know his true colors. Mamaji loves the kids, they are his sister's children, but he won't spare them if they stand in his way. He doesn't want to hurt them, so he tries to keep them at a safe distance, but if push came to shove, he will attack them.
But again, no kidnapping. Accident... Well, there is nothing to say that he won't entertain the idea, but he actually loves his sister, so he will prefer not to. He will never do anything with the sole purpose of killing them though. Sending them to the hospital is as far as he will go, and that too, is avoidable.
Bhalo Baba, Sekhar Chatterjee. - Clearly, he is the good guy. A good son, good brother, good husband, good father... But he is not impartial. He does differentiate between his children. Everyone is judged on the basis of their capabilities and Agni and Chadni are no match to Tara. Tara is stronger than both of them (not that he knows of the complicated nature of Chani. If he did, he would definitely appreciate her strength and her protective streak).
The business is failing and it is on him. He is the weak link. And his son, his son will be the weak link if he is given the chance to run the business. So no, Agni is clearly not inheriting the business and isn't it frustrating if your own blood came up short? He loved Tara, he did. She was the apple of her eye. But she wasn't fully his. And on the days when he already feels like a failure, the flaws in his biological children hurt. They hurt, and they hurt a lot. And seeing Tara in those moments hurts too.
But, Bhalo Baba has hidden something deep inside his heart, only which he and someone else knows.
