This movie kickstarted the current purple patch of Akki, winning him the class multiplex audience and while not losing away his core North India audiences, and from here he carefully constructed a filmography, which although heavily criticised by some section for being nationalist, consisting of comedies either meaning less slapsticks like Houseful third and fourth installment or dramas comedy like TEPK, Padman, Jolly LLB or Good Newz, or period dramas like Rustom or Kesari, or real event dramas like Gold or Mission Mangal, and even did a South Indian movie as a villain.
His movies had a common strong moral themes, connecting with the normal common man. While the nationalist message in many of his movies was always criticized by the left leaning critics because they viewed it as Hindutva propoganda, who always overlooked his movies criticism of Hindu/Indian society in movies like Padman, TEPK, Jolly LLB and Mission Mangal. But that didn't stopped him from gaining the trust of theater audiences.
While he hasn't achieved the big weekends like Salman Khan or Aamir, but what he has acheived is a consistent rate of success(despite box office hiccups like Gold or Padman) where his movies are getting good morning and eventually doing a good business over the theatrical runs. Will be able to give the big 100 crores weekend or not, is a difficult question, and the big movie called Sooryavasi directed by Rohit Shetty, also starring Katrina Kaif(with whom he had once given the second highest opening of that time with TMK), will answer that. Whether he reached that milestone or not, is a different question, but what he has achieved in last four years is unique and unforgettable.
