Republic Day Estimates: Street Dancer 3 - Tanhaji - Panga

Street Dancer 3 did well on Republic Day with collections of 16-17 crore nett but it could have been a little better as mass areas jump could have been higher considering it was a national holiday which should mean better collections than a normal Sunday. 

The film has posted a weekend of around 39 crore nett which is fair but it will have to maintain well over the weekdays. The growth has been pretty good over the weekend but that low starting point has meant the film not collecting what it should have. If this growth had come from around 12-13 crore nett then it would be a different story.

Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior is extraordinary with collections of 12 crore nett apprx on Sunday which takes its second weekend over 25 crore nett plus which is the fourth hghest ever after Bahubali - The Conclusion, Dangal and PK. The total after the third weekend will be around 218 crore nett which takes it 14th places in terms of top NETT grossers and its looking at a top ten finish. The film continues to smash records in Maharashtra.

Panga collected 5-5.50 crore nett on Sunday and could not really follow up the big growth on Saturday as mass belts have rejected the film and this where Sunday growth mainly comes from. The weekend business of the film will be 11.5-12 crore nett which is pretty poor.  The business is best in the Delhi NCR area but other big metros like Mumbai and Bangalore could have been better. the holds over the weekdays could be okay but thats more because it had very low day one collections. Its a struggle for the film to go anywhere after these sort of weekend collections.

Street Dancer 3 First Weekend Business

Street Dancer 3 had a fair weekend as it collected 39 crore nett though this is less than ABCD 2 which collected 46 crore nett. If the film was called ABCD 3 it would have probably done the weekend business of ABCD 2 or even a little more. The film jumped well at single screens and smaller multiplexes on Sunday as it was Republic Day but it would have been a better result if this holiday had fallen on another day rather than Sunday.

The best collections for the film are in Mumbai and Nizam / Andhra and they could have been better if it was not for Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior which is so strong in these parts. This can be seen with the collections of Nizam / Andhra and Street Dancer has done well in Nizam where Tanhaji is not so good but in Marathwada where Tanhaji is extraordinary Street Dancer does not have collections like in Nizam. The test for the film is the weekdays and it cannot afford to have the normal drops. The film has to show better than normal trending on the weekdays.

KRK is always a cartoon but Himesh Mankad, who is one of the more objective ones and actually TRACKS the multiplex numbers instead of regurgitating info and pretending to be a "trade analyst" on twitter, already said both the movies crashed and flopped today. The writing was on the wall when it made only about 40 crores with a NATIONAL HOLIDAY falling on the weekend. Varun seriously better step up his game going forward. The last two-three years have noticeably harmed his once ascending stardom stocks.

Hopefully he picks it up with Coolie no.1 

I was expecting a lot fom this movie after ABCD 2 success and when Remo introduced contestants on Dance Plus. But i don't see even Half of the buzz as ABCD 2. 

I havent watched but the story seems too cliche for me. Its nothing new, same old growing up story and the Aman Ka Tamasha Ki Asha storyline. Past 2 dance films were totally new for indian audiences story wise.

I watched all Varun movies in last 2 years in cinemas except Kalank, Even Civil War bcs of Varun Voiceover but may not watch this bcs it doesn't seem appealing to me at all. If i watch i will post how i felt. 

Hopefully remo makes a better dance movie next time. 

Street Dancer 3 DOWN - Panga CRASHES - Tanhaji RULES

Street Dance 3 fell 55% on Monday as it collected around 4.25 crore nett and the film had to do better to have some sort of decent run. The film had to do 5 crore nett or more on Monday. This takes the collections to around 43 crore nett plus and its looking a week of around 53 crore nett for the film.

There is no major competition in week two so that is the only hope for the film to hit the AVERAGE mark now and it needs a decent hold on the second Friday but that wont happen if the film keeps on dropping from here.

Panga saw a CRASH as it collected just 1.25 crore nett on Monday. The collections are down 40% but that is basically a crash for a film which practically no collections on day one. The film needed to collect more than Friday but here it is 40% down. The total so far for the film is around 13 crore nett and the week will probably end up with 16-16.50 crore nett. After Chhapaak this will also be that rare for loser for ths industry but with Chhapaak and this film Panga coming back to back these losers cant be called rare anymore.

Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior is a one horse race as it collects 4 crore nett on its third Monday and its heading for a 40 crore nett apprx third week. The film has been beating Panga with just its Mumbai circuit collections since Friday and it will probably soon go ahead of Street Dancer 3 also.

Not surprising and kind of expected after the reviews/feedback. Remo is crappy director.
