Street Dancer 3 Fair Start - Panga Poor

Street Dancer 3 has has had a fair start at around 20%. The collections are a little better than Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior at most places but Maharashtra is much lower.  Street Dancer 3 could have opened 20-30% better if it had the name ABCD 3 bacause the film is taking that franchise forward but without the name which makes a big difference. Being a youth film it could have opend better though as the evenings are unlikely to be stronger.

The plus for the film is a good cast and the HIT music but dance films have their limitations in India as they dont have an audience all over India but in some circuits only. The opening may be better than Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior in the Delhi / UP, East Punjab and Bihar but these are the weaker markets for the film and it is likes of Mumbai and Nizam / Andhra which normally carry dance films. In these parts it has been affected by Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior holding screens especially in Maharashtra and Marathawada.

Panga has opened to poor collections of 5-10% and its opening is even lower than Chhapaak. The film should not really be clashing with a film like Street Dancer 3 as its a small film and a solo release can get it more footfalls.  Not only Street Dancer 3 but there is also Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior which has collected better than Panga despite being on its third Friday. In Maharashtra the collections are almost three times Panga and that is at multiplexes.

Panga will have to show huge growth on Saturday and it will depend on Delhi / UP and East Punjab as Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior is not strong in these parts and dance films also filnd it tough in the long run in these circuits.

Hi guys!

Do you have to watch the previous titles before this?

And is this worth watching in the theatres or better off waiting for hard copy/streaming platforms to have available?

You don't have to watch the other movies. It's a standalone story. There is a 3D version if you want to see it in 3D.

Dont waste your time watching it in the theatre, Remo is an awful director.

Damn, Varun's stocks have taken a tumble it seems. Put things into perspective, ABCD 2 had taken 14 crore opening on 2500 screens and here is the result on 3700 screens with popular music, good reviews and an A-list actress?! Tiger's trashed SOTY2 had a bigger opening day with newcomers. Lagging big time behind RK, Tiger, Ranveer now.

Street Dancer 3 and Panga First Day Early Estimates

Street Dancer 3 had an average first day of around 10-11 crore nett with Mumbai to determire whether its around 10 or 11 crore. The circuit should be in the 4-5 crore nett range. The film should have done have really done around 30-35% more as it was a film for the youth.

There was the affect of Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior in Maharashtra which was also going to best areas of Street Dancer 3 and Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior has taken some business from the film. If Street Dancer 3 was a North film then it would not have made much a difference but dance films have a limited market in Delhi / UP and East Punjab.

Street Dancer 3 will be about the growth over the weekend and Sunday should be good due to Republic Day though if this had fallen on Monday it would have really given a boost the film.

Panga had a poor first day of around 2-2.50 crore nett which is even lower than Chhapaak and the film had a release of 1500 screens when really it should have only released on 1000 screens as these films dont have reach and outside the bigger 100 properties they hardly have an audience. The starting point for this film makes its a huge task as even if it doubles on Saturday then that would mean just 4 crore nett business which is lower than a film like Judgementall Hai Kya.
