Maya's lover tortured her (the man with the bracelet did) that's why she hates him. I am not sure if he is dead or not, or how he might be related to MJ or whether he is MJ or not. There are lots of speculations around it, including Maya might be pregnant at that time.

I don't blame Rudra for running away from his feelings, but marriage step is beyhadh negligence of his own feelings and also Anu's feelings.
