Endgame was a part of the MCU with so many major superheroes and was a culmination of a 10 year saga.
War did well inspite the fact that most masala films were underperforming this year.
Hrithik is the part of Bollywood which is Indian film industry and has been in the industry for 20 years. That beats the culmination of 10 year saga.

Ofc everyone was excited for War. Mainly coz of Hrithik and the fact that two great action heroes and dancers were going to be a part of a well made good budget flick.
But it does not beat the fact that another film had a strong storyline and so many superheroes together fighting one big baddie. It was the build up. It was a saga and a once in a lifetime experience. Damn even Marvel will hve to work very hard to outdo the Endgame craze.
The closest to that hype is the Baahubali hype but that too pales in comparison compared to the MCU. Distributors who were facing lsoses after Kalank made triple the amount of money with Endgame.
A franchise that has not had bad films in the last 9 years and has had multiple storylines that brought several characters together exceeds the craze for War.
In case War becomes a franchise and they do have a sequel with HR and Tiger, the BO collection will be higher. Because the audience will be even more pumped to watch these characters whose storylines they are familiar with again on screen. Those who prefered to watch it online will go to theatres instead. And BO collections will get higher and higher with every War franchise movie then.
