Mardaani 2 Low Start - Jumanji: The Next Level Decent

Mardaani 2 had a low start of around 8-10% which is expected as the film has nothing for morning youth audience be it mass or urban. The first Mardaani was a decent success but it was not a liked film among the wider audience where it becomes a brand so the first film is not really helping Mardaani 2.

The film is basically just depending on its content as it does not really get a push from the previous film so could have been given another name also. Mardaani picked up close to 3.50 crore nett in 2014 and it remains to be seen if this one can better that. The opening is not much better but it is a wider release. The film may do a little better in West Bengal which has been the trend with Rani Mukerjee films which out perform in this circuit be it Hichki or Mardaani. The opening day collections of the last two Rani Mukherjee films are as follows.

Hichki (2018) - 3,31,00,000 (975 screens)

Mardaani (2014) - 3,44,00,000 (1250 screens)

Jumanji - The Next Level had a decent start of around 20% and is better than Mardaani 2 across the board though by the end of the day West Bengal may be lower as that circuit improves fast in the evening and Mardaani 2 could really push in the evening. Jumanji - Welcome To The Junge did well at the box office in 2017 and this film may open better but will find it tough to beat the lifetime collections of that film due to Dabangg 3. Jumanji - The Next Level collected around 1.25 crore nett in paid previews on Thursday which is a fair number.

Mardaani 2 is getting great reviews. 

The problem with the Indian audience is that they prefer to watch a MAN in an uniform saving the day with a whole lot of escapism. 

Mardaani movies aren’t for escapists, they still entertain and get the message across.

Rani is not known to new generation  of movie going audience and they didn't  growup attaching to her. Long breaks also dont help. If movie is good it will work. 

Give credit to women. Karen had the biggest Hit with Endgame and how much Hobbs and Shaw earned in India?

If you have used scarlett Johansson  or  angelina jolie i wouldve given credit to them instead of male leads. The actress u used isnt even a household name in her own country let alone india. Even hw actors need good scripts to sell in india.

Endgame wouldve grossed same without her😂😂😂people watched for original avengers not her😂😂

Next year when black widow becomes hit, i will credit scarlett because its her who sold tickets

Strange. I would actually think this movie's timing couldn't have been better since everyone is suddenly outraging about rape and the film's subject is exactly that. Perhaps, it's because of the low publicity and visibility of the film.

But I am sure it will pick up really well if the content is good.
