MERI MISHTY KAUN?? **UPD. Pg. 150**13/03/2020

                                MERI MISHTY KAUN?

                                      (WHOSE MY MISHTY?)

My Dear friends,

Hi!

Today I'm starting a new story, “MERI MISHTY KAUN?”

Is love based on physical beauty and attraction i.e. facial beauty, hair, fairness, large eyes etc. or one’s inner soul? Can physically two identical persons arouse identical emotional responses in their beloved i.e. love, jealousy, possessiveness etc.? This story is primarily from Maan’s point of view (POV).

I had read a story in Geet Forum few years back where Geet and her twin had same names as my story i.e. Geetanjali and Kavyanjali. I hope this story doesn’t resemble that story but incase this story does resemble in parts to that or any another story its unintentional, it just coincidental!! Please read and give your feed back.

This will most probably be a short story.

Thank you,

LM

Disclaimer : I have NO KNOWLEDGE of medical field, medical procedures and medical terminology. Its just my way of showing how critical, tense and life threatening atmosphere is there in the hospital. I don’t intend to disrespect surgeons, doctors, medical staff, para medical staff or hospital administration. On the contrary I have great admiration for them. Kindly excuse me if unknowingly I hurt someone’s sentiments. I apologise in advance.

                                             CHARACTER SKETCH

SAVITRI DEVI KHURANA

Image

77yr. old. She was Chairman of Khurana Industries i.e. Khurana Constructions, Khurana Interior etc. but has now given resposibilities to her son, Ranjit Singh Khurana. She is currently Chairperson of Khurana Hospitals. She is also heading Charitable Institutions and Trusts. She is also Chairperson of newly inaugrated Khurana Foundation (KF) and Khurana Hospital called “Dhanvantri”. She has two grandsons - Maan & Vicky! She likes Dr. Kavyanjali Mishra (FICTITIOUS NAME) very much as a doctor as well as a person; and as a future daughter-in-law of Khurana family.

RANJIT SINGH KHURANA (RK) :

Image

59yr. old Chairman & CEO of Khurana Industries i.e. Khurana Constructions, Khurana Interior, Khurana Hotels etc. He is also MD of Khurana Constructions. He is a man of strong character. As Maan is not interested in Construction business hence Savitri Devi and Ranjit are trying to train Vicky. But due to Vicky’s immature and careless nature, its an uphill task! Initially Ranjit was a little disappointed when Maan didn’t want to join Khurana Industries. But Savitri Devi explained to Ranjit Maan’s mental and emotional stresses and tensions at that time and hence, Ranjit decided to wait!

DR. MAAN SINGH KHURANA (MSK):

Image

35yr. old. Eldest son & heir of Khuranas. He is a famous Cardiac Surgeon and has recently joined in ROYAL NEW YORK HOSPITAL (RHONY) (FICTITIOUS NAME). He had migrated to US ten years back and is a US Citizen (Writer's liberty!). He is being forced by his father and grandmother to return to his motherland, India and to Khurana Industries. He is an extremely strict and efficient doctor. Curing people and being a means to save their lives gives Maan an intense emotional and spiritual satisfaction. But unfortunately, Maan only believes in healing the patients’ physically i.e. their illness. Maan doesn’t believe in treating his patients’ as a whole i.e. diseases as well as emotions! He has looks that girls just die for! Tall, handsome, having sexy stubble on his face & well toned body with 8pack abs. Although he is not a "ladies man", but girls and woman cling to him for his looks, money and fame! He also doesn't mind giving an image of “playboy” to his family, friends and society. Although his father and grandmother are very distressed and unhappy by his this behaviour and have often tried to make him get married by talking to him with love, threatening him using emotional blackmail and even being furious with him but it did not help! Maan consciously promotes his this image of “playboy” and uses the girls as an arm-candy for helping him avoid questions about his marriage and if he is in a serious relationship??

Maan was a totally different person in his life with his immediate family and friends i.e. very loving & soft towards his family until in an accident his mother (who was his confiderate, councellor and guide) died. Along with this at the sametime he had fallen in love with a young, innocent and gorgeous looking fresher named Geetanjali Mishra (FICTITIOUS NAME) ten years back, when he was in his final year of MS (Masters in Surgery). Geetanjali also reciprocated his feelings but before he could introduce her to his family, she suddenly disappeared one fine day! Maan thinks that Geetanjali (Geet) has betrayed him, making him very cynical, harsh and rude towards the opposite sex after Geetanjali’s betrayal. As he had  lost his mother very soon  after Geet’s disappearance he has turned into an atheist, harsh, rude, woman hater and on personal level an emotionally broken man. Maan is certain now that the pure love of a woman and the image of a life partner that he had in his mind is impossible to get hence, he does not want to get married. As no girl until now has managed to touch his heart and soul like Geet had.

VIKRANT SINGH KHURANA (Vicky)

Image

30yrs old. Fun-loving, jovial & a prankstar. He works in Khurana Construction as the General Manager of Khurana Construction as well as the Head of designing department. He loves to party and have a nice time. He is a big flirt but soft hearted! He can even flirt with his Dadimaa. He is in love with Meera and was heart-broken when she rejected his marriage proposal.

DR. SHASHANK GUPTA:

Image

57yr. old. CEO & Head of Khurana Hospitals. He is a famous Brain surgeon. A very close friend of Ranjit Singh Khurana.  Ranjit and Shashank were in same school and then college. Shashank was academically very bright. He was always interested in becoming a doctor and serving poor and needy. Hence he went into the field of medicine. He had topped in the field of medicine. But as Shashank lost his parent’s very early in life and his father’s cousins by devious means acquired Shashank’s father’s business, property and wealth leaving him just a farmhouse in suburban parts of Delhi. Hence, Shashank was left orphan and helpless at age of 14. Unable to see an innocent young and bright boy’s future get tarnished by his joining bad company, Savitri Deviji took Shashank under her wing. She considers Shashank as her younger son. Though Savitri Devi is Chairman of Dhanvantri (Khurana) Hospital but only for name sake, the main person behind it, is Shashank. Maan and Vicky address him as “Chachaji” (father’s brother). Maan may back answer Ranjit and sometimes even Savitri Deviji but never Shashank. Maan consider Shashank his role model. It was due to Maan’s hero worshipping Shashank, that Maan joined field of medicine. Shashank can never say “no” to Savitri Deviji and Ranjit. It was due to Savitri Deviji’s wish that Shashank agreed to marry and now is the father of Meera.

MEERA GUPTA :

Image

28yr. old. She is Dr. Shashank Gupta's daughter. Meera was never interested in field of Medicine and graduated in field of Architecture hence, she is Chief Architect of KC. As Meera is the only child, she considers Maan as her elder brother. But with Vicky there is a non stop battle going on since childhood. Savitri Deviji, Ranjit & Shashank want Meera to marry Vicky. Although Meera loves Vicky but she keeps it hidden. She refuses to marry Vicky as she feels he is never serious about work and life! After knowing about all the hardships her father faced while growing up she is now even more adamant that she never wants to be dependant on anyone neither her father, nor her brother (Maan) not even Khuranas! Maan whole heartedly supports Meera’s decision to become independant physically, economically and socially! Maan also supports Meera against marrying Vicky. However, unknown to anyone but truth is that despite of Meera being confident, self respecting and independant she is also a traditional girl at heart!

SASHA MAHESHWARI :

Image

23yrs. Old. Works as an assistant architect. Very selfish and lazy in her work. Love to boss her juniors! Her main aim is to marry one of the Khurana brothers. But both Maan and Vicky ignore her. Vicky treats her like a piece of furniture in Khurana Construction. Maan has not been in India for past ten years but whenever he comes to KC during his vacations he sees right through her. He gives more importance to Rambharose, the peon then to Sasha! Besides Maan is not an Architect therefore his presence is more like that of a guest. Vicky is carefree and uninterested in business therefore unfortunately Sasha is forced to be in contact with Adi maximum and then Ranjit.

ADITYA SRIVASTAV (ADI):

Image

35yrs. old. He is Head of Finance and Accounts department in Khurana Constructions. Very close friend of Maan’s! His father was loyal employee of Khuranas. After his father's death, Khurana's employed him. He is very loyal to Ranjit Singh Khurana and Khurana Industries.  He is the true force behind progress of KC. Adi can do anything for Khuranas especially, Ranjit. Ranjit and Maan trust Adi the most professionally & personally. Ranjit and Maan wanted to make Adi, the Managing Director (MD) of Khurana Construction, but he is continously refusing saying that its Maan and Vicky’s right.

GEETANJALI  MISHRA (FICTITIOUS NAME!)  (Geet):

Image

18yr. Old. (When Maan saw Geet first & last time!) Geet was an exchange student in same college as Maan in India. Geet is true definition of beauty & grace. She has a milky white complexion, hour glass figure with doe-like hazel coloured eyes. She is a genius and has photographic memory therefore she can remember things by just hearing / reading it once thereby making her a topper in her class. Due to her intelligence she has a mature approach to life thereby making her a worldly wise girl of very strong values and character. She never compromises on her self-respect, values and an extremely brave girl. Geet has an identical twin sister, Kavyanjali. Geetanjali and Kavyanjali’s father belonged to the town of Muzaffarnagar, hence Geet knows fair amount of Urdu as she was the apple of her father’s eyes. Geetanjali and Kavyanjali’s parents died a few months back in a road accident. Hence, both the sisters were forced make their cousin chacha and chachi live with them as they were young girls in Delhi and it was not safe for them to live in a big and dangerous city of Delhi alone. As her uncle and aunt have only one son, Kulbhushan Sharma (Bhushan) i.e. don’t have any daughters, hence they tried to adopt the twin girls in order to have control over their money and property. But as the twins were already 18yrs. old, they were no longer considered minor. Hence, they were no longer needed to be adopted. Geetanjali and Kavyanjali’s parents’ had left their property in form of a “trust fund” in name of both the girls but the girls could only use it when they turned 25yrs old or if either one got married! Geet and Anjali’s father, Lakshmi Narayan Mishra (FICTITIOUS NAME!) made his friend, Mr. Ram Kapoor the chief trustee of his daughters’ “trust fund” as well as Geet and Anjali’s gaurdian until the age of 25yrs. Although the girls were forced to stay with their so called chacha and chachi but their future was secured. Luckily, Geet was more worldly wise and practical than her younger sister, Kavyanjali. Geet knew that her so called relatives are only interested to grab their parents’ hard earned money. Geet was continously in touch with her father’s close childhood friend, Mr. Ram Kapoor  (in US) regards their financial and personal life. But as the saying goes “Man proposes and God disposes!” Hence, despite of all her efforts, Geet could not stop the calamity!

DR. KAVYANJALI MISHRA (FICTITIOUS NAME!) (Anjali):

Image

28yrs. old. She is 5minutes younger identical twin of Geetanjali.  Anjali is a Hospitalist (Junior Attending Physician) in field of Gynaecology and Obstretics along with specialisation in Oncology (study of cancer) at ROYAL NEW YORK HOSPITAL (RHONY) (FICTITIOUS NAME). She is extremely confident and self-respecting girl. She is a US citizen. She is topper of her batch. She is an upcoming “Oncologist in Gynaecology*”She is beauty with brains. Anjali has a milky white complexion, long and thick wavy hair with doe-like hazel coloured eyes.  Being an identical twin of Geetanjali she is her carbon copy regarding looks and body structure. Although she was very innocent, impulsive, immature and child like when her parents and Geet were alive but after their death she was forced to grow up. To accept her tragic destiny and live a normal sane life, she took to prayers and meditation of Lord Shiva.  Due to her tragic experiences she has become wary of love and emotions. Therefore, now she is extremely professional and emotionless with resident doctors, nurses, ward boys, interns and matrons. All male staff are attracted by her beauty but are scared of her icy “touch me not” aura. Female doctors and staff consider her snobbish due to her physical beauty and genius medical skills of a doctor. The only place where she is whole heartedly welcomed is the pediatric ward. Children adore her and look forward to her visit.

YASHVARDHAN KHANNA (Yash)

Image

32yr. old Maan & Vicky’s first cousin i.e. Mama’s (Mother’s brother) son. He is an interior designer by profession. Maan’s Mama, Pitamber Khanna and Mami, Vaidehi live in US. They have helped Maan a lot since he moved to US but Maan refuses to stay with them at their home, as Maan wants his independence and privacy. But Maan does visit his Mama and Mami when he is free from his job. Yash is very close to Maan but around eight years back he was jilted in love and has still not been able overcome his rejection. Yash has not even been able to open up to Maan. While doing his internship in Mishra Interiors eight years back he met a young and beautiful girl in his office. The girl’s name was Kavyanjali or Anjali for short. Yash put two and two together and realised that Anjali was a relative of Mahalakshmi Mishra, owner of Mishra Interiors. Anjali’s innnocence and carefree nature drew Yash like a bee to the honeypot. For Yash it was love at first sight but for Anjali it was just friendship full of fun and enjoyment i.e. Yash bringing for her ice cream, chocolates, cakes, cookies etc.  Then one fine day Mahalakshmi Ma’am had to suddenly leave for India as her parents-in-law were on their death  bed. Few months later,  Mishra Interiors’ staff heard the sad news of Mr. & Mrs. Mishra’s demise. Mahalakshmi Ma’am’s eldest daughter, Geetanjali was attending the office with Mr. Ram Kapoor and Munim Sadanand Vidyarthi to consolidate the business as there was no one to handle the business. Before Yash could talk to Kavyanjali or Geetanjali in privacy, he had to suddenly rush with his parents to India for the demise of Maan’s mother.

MR. RAM KAPOOR

56yr. old owner of Kapoor Constructions in US. He is married to Priya Kapoor and has a son Sahil. Ram and Priya treated Geet and Anjali like daughters they never had. Although Sahil had brotherly feelings for Kavyanjali but not for Geetanjali. He was in love with Geetanjali and  has now totally lost the will to live after her death. Sahil has shifted to Switzerland so that his attitude and feelings are not displayed in front of his parents.

Then he tried again to murder the twins, although this time Geetanjali was killed but so were his own parents!

“Mishty, aaj se tum meri ho. SIRF MERI!” (From today you are mine. Only mine!) He said pointing to her hair parting having sindoor (vermilion) and neck adorned with mangalsutra (string of black beads).

“Yeh aapne kya kiya? Aapne hummein kiss bandhan mein baandh liya? Aap toh jaante hain ki hum do hafte baad Delhi chodh kar chale jaayenge.” (What have you done? You have tied me in an unbreakable bond. You knew that I will be leaving Delhi in two weeks.)

“Abb tum meri ho aur meri consent ke bina kaheen nahi jaa sakteen.” (Now you legally belong to me and cannot leave me without my consent.)

Just then her phone rang and she answered the call immediately, “Theek hain hum aa rahe hain. Aap royiye matt. Woh aapka kuch nahi bigadh sakte hain. Hum dus minute mein pauhchte hain. Aap swayam ko apne kamre mein bandh kar lijiye aur darwaze ko andar se lock kar lijiye. (Yes, yes I’m coming. Don’t cry. He cannot even touch you. I’ll be there in ten (10) minutes. You lock yourself in your room.) She disconnected the phone. Then looking at the youngman with her she said, “Hummein jaana padhega. Humari behan ki jaan khatare mein hai.” (I will now have to leave as my sister’s life is in danger.)

“Mai tumhare saath chaloon?” (Should I accompany you?)

“Nahi. Aap yaheen rahiye. Hum nahi chahte ki hum dono behano ke saath-saath aapki jaan bhi khatare mein padh jaaye.” (No. You stay here. I don’t want even your life is in danger along with both of us.)

“Abb tum meri patni ho aur mujhe tumhein protect karne se koi nahi rok sakta.” (Now you are my wife. No one can stop me from protecting you.) He said with possessiveness and aggression.

“Aap kitne bahadur hain.” (You are so brave) She came forward and hugged him tightly while gently pressing a nerve on his shoulder (Writer’s Liberty) and then her newly wedded husband lost his consciousness and slumped on her shoulder. Making him lie as comfortably as she could single handedly on the bed she covered him with a duvet, placed a kiss on his lips and left saying, “Hummein maaf kar dijiyega ki humne yeh chhal aapke saath kiya hai. Kaash aap hummein iss vivaah bandhan mein nahi baandhte to humari bewafai aap ke liye sehan karna saral ho jaati.” (Please forgive me for playing this charade on you. I wish you would have not tied me with you in this holy matrimonial bond. Then my this betrayal would have been easy for you to bear.) Then covering her whole face except her eyes with a dupatta she left.
