Chapter 1
Prerna opened her eyes as the alarm went off rather loudly. She grumbled as his arm reached out towards her, trying to find the ringing phone beside her pillow.
"Main band karti hoon!" She said in a sleepy tone and he retracted his hand as she snoozed the alarm.
Sighing loudly, she opened her eyes, only to find her husband fast asleep. A smile touched her lips as she traced his beautiful face with her eyes, her fingers itching to touch him.
Oh how much she loved him! Every day, when she woke up to his beautiful face, she almost cried to herself in happiness.
3 months. It had been 3 months since she realised what she truly felt towards him and it had been 3 months since she was dying to share her feelings but could not find the strength. He had helped her transform into a strong, confident woman, who was not afraid to speak her mind but when he was in front of her, she could not utter what was in her heart.
I will tell him soon.
She got up, shaking her head at her own weak promises. It was almost time to wake Kuki up and she quickly went to take a shower.
An hour later, a fully dressed Kuki was ready on the breakfast table as Maasi joined them.
"Rishabh kahan hai Prerna?" She asked and Prerna poured her some tea.
"Wo ready ho rahe hain. Maine unka breakfast-
"Main bana dungi uska naashta, tum Kuki ko school chod aao." Maasi said and Prerna shook her head.
"Maasi, aap mujhe unka breakfast kyun nahin banane deti-
"Kuki, apna school bag le aao beta." Maasi said and Kuki ran to her room. Sharda looked at Prerna and sighed. "Main har din kehti hu Prerna, tum Kuki ki Maa ho, tum uski fikar karo. Rishabh ki Maa main hoon, I will take care of him."
Prerna just listened to her. She knew Maasi loved Rishabh a lot, more than a mother could a son. She also knew Maasi was over protective towards Rishabh since the day Prerna had her miscarriage and Rishabh had gotten so drunk in guilt that he had to be admitted in the hospital. Prerna had realised how much Rishabh cared about her and so did Maasi. SInce that day, Maasi always tried to maintain a distance between the couple because she now knew all about Anurag and how much Prerna had loved him.
When the news of her miscarriage had broken out, Anurag had barged into the Mansion at 1 am in the morning, accusing Prerna of sleeping with Rishabh while being engaged to him and getting married to him out of the blue when she found about their illegitimate child in her womb. Prerna had cried and cried for a week while Rishabh was drowning in guilt. And when he had been admitted, Prerna had gone mad in worry towards him. Maasi had seen the state of the couple and knew that even though both of them were emotionally dependent on each other, they were better off without each other unless there were any buried feelings.
It had been 6 months since Prerna's unfortunate miscarriage and the relationship between the couple had changed considerably. They no longer slept on different beds because Prerna often had nightmares related to the accident and always needed her husband's arms to feel the relief she craved. They were cordial with each other, went out to lunches and dinners, mostly with Kuki and sometimes with Maasi and Tanvi too.
They had settled into a routine. While Rishabh went to the office, Prerna would drop Sneha to school. During lunch, he would come home and while going back to the office, he would drop her to her therapist. It was one of the things Prerna was thankful to him for. She didn't know she needed therapy until he had mentioned it and it had helped her a lot to get over her past. She still cried for her lost baby but not anymore for his father. The last time she had cried was almost two months ago and she was thankful to him for that. He was always there for her, ready to wipe her tears and to bring a smile on her face.
It were days like those, when he would come home early just to surprise her or make her a cup of tea when she craved it, which made her question her feelings towards him.
And his feelings towards her.
