This movie brought back the trend of masala movies which audience were craving for, plus it had elements to appeal small town people unlike Dhoom series. Also Chulbul Pandey is a well written character. There's a reason he became iconic. 

The single screen audience was revived.

How can anyone not love Chulbul. He went to her father’s funeral and said “ well he’s dead let’s grt married now” and then he proceeded to start packing her stuff for her 😆🥳🤣

I think Wanted did that. 

Wanted and Ghajini both did revived masala. But they were at the end of the day remakes. Dabangg was an original story (not pathbreaking at all lol ) but original. That and the khakee uniform both did the trick 😊
