August and September are undoubtedly full of festivals but when it comes to the small screen, there is an overload of shows coming on too. One of the most talked-about ones in that lot has been Zee TV's upcoming sci-thriller, Haiwaan, Only yesterday, we reported about the show's on-air date and the promo of the show is out now.

What's It About?

The trailer explains things in the simplest manner where we meet a group of three friends - two boys (Param Singh and Ankit Mohan) and one girl (Ridhima Pandit). The trio lives life to the fullest and of course, care for each other immensely. That is so much that one of them (Ankit's character) sacrifices himself to save his best friend (Param's character) life. Fortunately, he manages to stay alive but only to foresee the unthinkable.

Due to a mishap during his treatment, a chemical (gamma rays, probably) enters his body thus turning into a monster. Yes, a green monster obviously. Thus the saga later goes on as we see that Ridhima's character is actually a cop and she ridicules the headline that a monster has caused wrath in the city. What happens later will probably be the premise.

The Impact

The one thing that is either too good or too bad for the show as it telecasts soon is that the trailer reveals everything. We are certain there is going to be lots of ifs and buts to the story but in a mere 30 plus seconds, everything is out when it comes to the premise of the show. In a way, this is good as the viewers know what to expect but in another manner, this may be problematic as the surprise factor goes away.

The Dostana-meets-Hulk vibe that the show exhibits is indeed fresh to see. Zee TV, as a channel, has been focusing on family dramas on the maximum lately but this seems a refreshing change as it focuses on young blood and their story. It is important to have a good blend in a daily soap and this show has a rare blend of youth and thrill that should be interesting.

While Ankit should shine as the good-turned-bad guy aka the Haiwaan himself, Param is back as the babyface poster boy who may or may not have too many arcs to portray. Ridhima proved her acting chops with Bahu Hamari Rajni_Kant and this change of being in a masala potboiler will give the actress further chances to show her versatility.

The Verdict

One thing is out of the picture and that is the obvious comparison with the Marvel character, Hulk as the makers have been open about it how the show is indeed inspired from it. But giving this a different take of friends-against-each-other along with the phenomenal angle of Ridhima's character being a cop should play out amazingly well as the trailer promises.
