With Babita's emotional exposure in front of HS rubbing badly on all of us I was wondering about alternative options to bring out the same thing with a little HS oriented twist 😆
VACHAN
Amidst the commotion going on around him, the only place where his eyes found solace, was her face. The 'proposal' had indeed gone viral with everyone being overly enthusiastic and engulfed in self proclaimed celebrations - a little more than his liking.
He saw her eyes softly meeting his and she nodded slightly. He got the cue and quietly, escaped upstairs.
He found her facing the wall and seated on the bed. Closing the door silently behind him, he took a step forward.
"Ji, aapko kuch kehna hai...?", he asked hesitantly.
"Haan", she said, unsure.
He stepped forward and sat on the bed softly, facing her half back and half smoothly flowing hair.
"Jo abhi hua... matlab abhi... woh--"
"-- Sach hai", he completed, smilingly.
"Yeh itna perfect nahi hoga", she said, hinting at her apprehensions.
"Par bohot sundar hoga", he answered.
"Aapko toh pata hai naa, main aapke layak nahi hoon..."
"Areey ab aap aisa kyun bol rahe ho?", he said, annoyingly.
She turned around to face him. Her eyes asked him to allow her speak. She had a lot to say today.
He understood what she meant. He nodded, giving his consent.
"Aaj tak jo bhi rishta maine nibhaaya hai, khudko khokar nibhaya hai. Par... par ab main aisa nahi chahti. Khudko, iss naye independence ko aur khudgarzi ko khona nahi chahti", she said.
He understood what she was trying to say.
"Mujhe vachan dijiye", she said, startling him.
She extended her hand.
"Mujhe vacahn dijiye ke mujhe woh duniya bhar ki saari khushiyaan denge jo mujhe kabhi nahi mili"
"Vachan hai", he relied promptly, placing his hand firmly in hers.
"Mujhe vachan dijiye ki meri khhaamiyon aur mere beech aap hamesha mujhe chunenge, iss Babita ko chunenge jo aapse bohot pyaar karti hai", she said, resting her head on his shoulder.
He closed his eyes, feeling that genuine, raw intention and imperfection. He know what it meant. And he was ready for this.
"Diya", he whispered.
"Vachan dijiye ki chaahe jo ho jaaye, aap mujhe chodkar kabhi nahi jaayenge", she said - vulnerable and cornered.
"Kabhi nahi", he answered with conviction.
"Vachan dijiye ki main khush rahoon naa rahoon, aap hamesha khush rahenge", she said, finally letting go of her reservations.
He chuckled, choked and overwhelmed.
"Vachan", he said, holding her hand and promising a lifetime of togetherness.
Khudko khokar, tujhko paaya,
Aisa tera mol
Aaj jo tune haath lagaya
Ho gaya main anmol
...
Phew. Finally!
