Alok Nath Case is probably going to be closed due to lack of evidence

Ten months after Bollywood actor Alok Nath was accused of rape by a writer-director, the Oshiwara police which is investigating the case is likely to file a closure report in the matter due to lack of evidence. The police claim to have questioned the victims related to the case and also witnesses mentioned by the victim in her complaint. Nath was also quizzed by the cops, but however, nothing concrete is expected to come out which can prove Nath guilty. The investigation is expected to meet a dead end.

According to the police, the case never stood a chance as the alleged incident had occurred 20 years ago. So far, the police have recorded detailed statements of the victim and two witnesses were also called to the police station a number of times for recording a statements. Moreover, police said, the details provided by the witnesses were hazy and it did not make up for a strong case.

Following the rape accusations, Nath had filed a civil suit in a city court and sought Re 1 as damages for allegedly defaming him. Nath and his wife Ashu, in their complaint, said, "The #MeToo campaign is being cashed by way of utilising the social media for the purpose of gaining fame or for the purpose of defaming."
