Zero beats Race 3 and Uri in its TV premiere

Key Highlights

Zero has done well in its Television premiere garnering better rating than Race 3 and the 2019 blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike

Released last year, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer had failed at the box office

Made on a reported budget of Rs 200 crore, Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero had made the right noise before its release on social media and amongst movie buffs. The trailer, as well as the songs, had been received well but once the film released it all came down crashing. The movie failed to connect with the audience and turned out to be a colossal failure earning just Rs 90.28 crore.

It was a major disappointment of last year. So much so, that Shah Rukh Khan backed out of his next film, the Rakesh Sharma biopic Saare Jahaan Se Achcha. It's been almost 8 months since the release of Zero but the superstar is yet to announce his next film.

After more than six months of its release, Zero finally had its Television premiere and the good news for Shah Rukh Khan fans is that it has done reasonably well if a report is to be believed. The Aanand L Rai directorial has garnered close to 1 crore impressions in its first TV screening and has beaten the likes of Salman Khan starrer Race 3 and Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike. Interestingly, unlike Zero, Race 3 was able to recover its investment and Uri: The Surgical Strike did blockbuster business at the box office.

Zero has taken the 6th spot in the list of the top TV premieres of 2019. The top spot of 2019 belongs to Ajay Devgn starrer Total Dhamaal, which is a blockbuster on the small box with 1.67 crore impressions. Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 is second best with 1.65 crore impressions.
