The shattered photo frame!

SPM~ My Musings 25.6.19 ~ The shattered  photo frame !

Zainab is a mother whose daughter is about to be wed shortly. How lovingly she gazes at the mother daughter framed photograph. Call it nerves or call it ominous, but it slips from her hands and crashes on the floor!Very soon the mother daughter bond will end up broken! Perhaps beyond all repair! Damaged glass, relates to broken promises ,smashed expectations! Well the episode shows Kainat sees, that her mother has fallen short of what she expected of Zainab.Her mother in fact strikes her more in favour of the girl who always ruined her dreams. Why else is she so desperate to seek her?

For Zainab as Kainat’s mother its painful to accept that all the clues point to Kainat initiating and expediting Saltanat’s sudden disappearance. The broken framed photo, also is a stark reminder for Zainab, where she witnesses history repeats itself in the shape of Kainat’s violent behaviour towards her. Where she acts as her fathers daughter! gives Zainab bodily harm and then laughs and gloats at an overpowered submissive,beaten Zainab, in the same fashion like her father did! 

After witnessing Kainat with her mother today ,and learning a bit about her fathers. Black and white photo negativeflashing images, reminds me how on previous occasions whenever Kainat needed emotional uplifting especially in her misdeeds, she tended to communicate with her dead father’s photograph! The abusive husband, to her was a devout fathershe looked up to. I recall, how she used to say, had he been alive, he would make things alright for her! all her obsessions he would fix..

One shattered frame of present time,brings back a frame of the past events, Zainab thinks she had forgotten. But Kainat now for Zainab, digs up the past.

So Zainab was a victim of domestic violence, before I suspect, Kainat’s very eyes. Today we also see how Kainat also, to have her own way overpowers hermother in fact locks her up for being a threat for her, on her big day!

We also learn, that for Kainat relationships of all manner are secondary and her own needs are primary! Makes me wonder, did her father perhaps have some unholy needs, for which he required monies? Did Zainab object to his questionable ways? and in response she received  physical abuse from him? In fact Kainat. words, deeds are cold and need driven. She actually talks the talk.That being an adult, the law of the land gives her the full right to takeindependent decisions! In which case, Zainab’s questioning, guidance is notneeded anymore!

Kainat rides high, on her bold mindset to realize her personal needs, and sets aside familial relationships. Here I see a daughter who without any emotional relationship , bar an insane love  for Zaroon ,for whom,  she spurns aside even her bond with the mother who bore her without blinking an eyelid! What can be worse than a child, disloyal to its own mother!  

Enough about familial bonds. As today ! Kainat will ensure that all doors are opened before her, that lead to her happiness. However we see in order to let joy into, her life, Kainat also closes doors on all the anti-happiness elements of her life. Yesterday she locked up Saltanat securely and literally and throws away the key! Today she locks up Zainab her mother!

I find haste in today’s wedding ambience.Haste in getting rid of the chest that cargo’s Saltanat.  Kainat and Sabina’s,haste in making it to the marriage! Zainab’s speed in seeking the missing Saltanat. A rush for Zainab to fulfil her oath to Zaroon  by bringing Saltanat to him, before the nikah!! 

There is haste in expressing highly strung sentiments. Rubina is livid with Zainab, and refuses to divulge information about Sultanat’s whereabouts. At this point another bit of the past is thrown in!   some debt that Zainab gave to Rubina . Nadeem obliges Zainab , and does what is within his power to trace out the whereabouts of Saltanat. Zainab’s hysteria over Saltanat's disappearance seems more in comparison to Rubina. Could Saltanat too, be Zainab’s daughter?

Anything can go wrong with this controversial wedding, like the groom might not show up. Mainjaan is assured by Zaroon and Mamoon ,affirmative! The wedding will go through.

Zaroon as the groom, though is pensive,regretful.. but he consoles his broken heart by believing that he is only marrying Kainat because it’s what Saltanat   wanted.

The chest is still retained as Saltanat’s replica! Both Zaroon and Kainat rest on it briefly! Omens continue.Zaroon’s bridal outfit gets hooked on a nail on the chest. For Kainat it becomes an  object upon which she aims taunts ,mocks and scoffs at Saltanat! Gibes she finally gets to  snatch Zaroon from her, as keeps forever! As for Saltanat, she is a done away relative that Kainat does not need! She has experienced all relationships and realised they are all meaningless .. what matters in the end is ones primordial need! The demand of her heart, is to necessitate her  need. Zaroon….  

Sabina‘s real face is exposed, she too choses to side with  Kainat ,turns a deaf ear to her sisters cries for freedom , leaves Zainab  locked in the room; pushes the chest in the water, ensures that Zainab remains locked in Shah Manzil. Padlocks the main gate of the residence. So no chances are given to Zainab to thwart the wedding. Sabina seems to fear Kainat, along with Zainab ... 26.6.19 hamlet53

The main bit for me was the speculation of Zainab being a victim of  domestic violence. I wonder if Mainjaan was aware of the beatings? Does Zainab want to save Saltanat from dying? or save Kainat from criminality? Also what’s in it for Sabina , revenge against Mainjaan?

Quite an engaging episode it was. 

Kainaat’s childhood seems to be quite horrible given that her fathers actions have highly influenced her mentally and emotionally. It is quite possible that she be a replica of her father. Possibly,  her father put on the mask of  a pious man in presence of miajaan and family just like kainaat but behind everyone’s back, he was just as vile as kainat.. 

I doubt miajaan knew about his elder son’s other side of the personality. Would he have wished to make him his heir knowing how cruel he is to his own wife? The heir should be an exemplary figure for the community and in reality his older son was far from it.. assuming that Zainab did cover up her husband’s misdeeds, will she continue to do the same for her daughter now? 

Yes, she will save sultanat and possibly freed her from the promise and let sultanat go and claim zaroon.. but how much will she cover for kainaat’s vileness? 

Actually, the episode made me realize how miajaan’s first generation have kept secrets, may be in order to uphold the family’s honor and respect in the community.. but the second generation seem to tear apart miajaan’s honor and respect that he enjoys in the community with the public tamasha everytime.

Zainab’s fear on realizing that kainaat has turned out to be just like her father and those flashbacks and wicked laugh.. my heart did go out for zainab as a woman. 

What will Sabina’s reaction be knowing Saltanat is her niece just as much as Kainat is, I wonder.  Is Sabina married? Or does she still pine for Nadim? What is their story? Nadim seems happily married albeit hen-pecked but is a good man, husband, son, and father.  Kainat in her behavior with her mother crossed all bounds of decency and deserves all that is coming her way even if we have to wait until the end of the show for her to get her just desserts.  

When did Mia Jaan’s first sin die? I thought when he died Zainab was pregnant and Kainat was born after his death. That also makes sense because a person like that would not let Zainab give a daughter away or keep it a secret. But flashback seems to indicate that Kainat was around when he beat Zainab. Or are they showing Kainat inherited a bad mad gene and has turned out like this without him being around.

Zainab knew at some level that Kainat was off her rocker. That is why she brought her up in a controlled environment and kept pressurizing sultanat to back off. She probably hoped that Kainat will ok after her marriage to Zaroon. She just didn’t know how far off the rocker Kainat already was.

I was a little upset with yesterday’s episode because I hate when they use mental illness as an excuse for evilness. Mental illness already has so much stigma attached to it. Why add more baggage. Seems like a pathetic attempt to whitewash a character. Why couldn’t Kainat be just bad? Also this mental makeup puts her on par with Maya of beyhad.

Overall it was a happening episode with zainab getting to know some hard truths. More evidence for Sufiyana love was provided. Zaroon and Kainat’s monologue with the trunk were tiring. 

Hoping that after the confession the story moves towards the family secrets and inheritance battle.

yes this may be possible.. highly deceptive .. which is not unusal in real life, people do put on appearances as and when.. or may be Kainat's father rebelled against the house rules of respectability?

 yes  Mainjaan probably didn't know, and as you point out due to Zainab's keeping her married life to herself, her husband did  have Mainjaan's support as far as being an heir was concerned.. I recall that the hier's  attire was kept with  Zainab

 also  Zainab wants to keep undercover,  her   coercing Saltanat  ,which Zaroon too now knows.. I can't even imagine how she can protect Kainat from the rest of the clan..

wow Lonelythots ,what a brilliant critical analysis , that is so true.. this may be because, the past may hold far more serious  issues than the present. Issues like what  do Nadeem/Rubina owe Zainab?? and why the two cousins  are a splitting image of each other.. These may be best kept scerets by  the grownups,?as time is a great healer... that people forget

well we shall have to watch the show to find out the CV's best kept secret! are the two lookalikes  twins? Sabina's current life style too, is worth some speculation. Although we have been told, that she is a close confidante of Kainat. That Kainat  keeps in touch with her London resident aunt, especially when under durress. Kainat comes across as negative, so that the two leads are shown as rightous..   the cv's want viewers to condemn her.. personally I want to know more about those who failed her.. and also if they realize that they failed her.. Kainat till now also remains a vital link in connecting  and bringing Zaroon and Saltanat, as they stand today..

good point, and no ! the time of the son's death has not been disclosed.. only a passing reference to him dying young was made by Rubina.. lots is left for us to speculate.. the FB's did shake viewers up! yes seems K  may have seen what she ought not to have seen.. why do i also feel, that her father, didnt abuse her like her mother.. As Kainat rather as an accomplice  connects to her father  in her misdeeds ..

 you may be right, she wanted it sweet between the girls who never really connected.. funnily enough, Saltanat always referred to how zainab brought  kainat up.. now we know Zainab  was being cautious.. mind you she did once mention about Kainat's zid.. an inherent stubborn trait in her..

bravo! exactly how I feel.. mental illness has many types and can be caused by many issues an individual may have gone through various periods of his/her life.. depression, coming from losing a loved one, unemployment, misuse of  self harming substances.. mental illness needs specialist and supportive  treatment as vulnerable members of society , rather than be as you say , stigmatized and excluded from  society..

Irshita.. seeing her mother bashed about ,to me has left Kainat insecure and perhaps suspicious of females too..  I dont know.. just thinking on top of my head

yes.. please lets see how the story moves on ..i saw the promo... what's with the kissing ..?  why cant just holding hands be sufiyana love.. did zaroon have to cover Saltanat's face with kissey's.. i was more impressed by Kainat's punch on the glass window.. her face... ab tum dekhna! main kya kerti hoon! 😛 i love her chuckles!  Helly is  universal as kainat!
