Ali Abbas Zafar and I agreed that Bharat should not have a family in the film: Salman Khan on his character in ‘Bharat’By Bollywood Reporter  on  May 25, 2019

Ahead of the release of his highly anticipated film Bharat, Salman Khan, at a media interaction, today revealed how his old friend and director Sooraj Barjatya also knew about the film’s story, and had a different version for it. Apparently, Barjatya wanted to focus on the love story which was remarkably different from the present film that is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.

Talking about the different perspectives that different directors had about one story Salman said, “I had narrated the subject to Sooraj as well, and Sooraj made a very amazing suggestion for the love story. He wanted it to be the central focus of the film. However, when Ali Abbas Zafar saw the film (Ode To My Father), he and I agreed that Bharat (lead character) should not get married in the film. If Bharat has a family, he becomes humane, budhapa aa jata hai, his focus will be his children then his focus from his father will shift. I liked Ali’s version of the film so we decided to go ahead with this narrative.”

Bharat is the official adaptation of South Korean film Ode To My Father and sees Salman age from a young man to an old veteran. The film showcases the relationship between a father and son, along with the journey of a nation, which is similar to the original film.

Bharat also stars Katrina Kaif, Jackie Shroff, Tabu, Sonali Kulkarni, Nora Fatehi and Sunil Grover. The film is slated to release on June 5.

The main plot of the movie is Bharat making a promise to his father . I think he meant that Bharat cant marry and start a family till he fulfills that
