Chaptr-1 Ruhaan's Inferno
"What do you think, is he gonna be any good?" Whispered Soumya. Today was the arrival day of the new faculty of English, their old faculty, Mr Daas has had a mild heart attack a week ago and was on medical leave so in his stead a new teacher was appointed for the rest of the semester."I dunno, we'll see, won't we?" Mishti whispered back, it was the 7th time Soumya has asked the same question in last 10 minutes and Mishti was quite irritated now. To be honest she didn't really care if he was good, for she has already finished her book twice and was fully prepared for the exams. And unlike all her classmates, she wasn't dependent on the teacher to explain things first. And English literature was her most favorite subject, for as long as she could remember; she loved this language, even when she was just five years old, she had finished reading 'lord of the rings' in just 3 days, she loved reading novels and plays, and it was her dream to become a writer one day. So, she wasn't much concerned if the new teacher was any good and being a student of M.A final, she didn't think that any other students should be either. She supposed, by this time all of them should be prepared on their own, rather than depending on a teacher. They were all 21, for crying out loud!
"I've heard he's quite young" whispered Soumya again
" I guess we'll see that too" replied Mishti and before Soumya could put forth any of her new question or findings the new faculty arrived.
He WAS young, thought Mishti, maybe 28-29. As soon as he entered, all the students started whispering loudly
" Morning all of you, as you must have realized by now, I'm your new faculty of English literature, Ruhaan Singh Rana, and I'll be teaching you for the rest of the semester"
The first thing Mishti noticed about Mr Rana, was his voice. It was so deep and husky, it was the voice that gave you dirty thoughts, the voice you dream of when you watch your favorite romantic movie, the voice that caresses your insides and Played havoc with your thoughts. It was the voice that will chill and warm up your heart at the same time. Mishti raised her head and looked at the owner of that magnetic voice; It was a mistake. This man was beautiful... Beyond anything Mishti had ever seen. Square jaw, straight aristocratic nose, full lips and his eyes...his eyes were undoubtedly his best feature. They were of the color of twilight; not quite black, not quite grey...something in between. And he was tall, at least 6'2, she herself was 5'5 but she felt that she was naught but midget in front of him.
"Can I see your note book Miss..?" Asked Mr Rana, but Mishti was too busy daydreaming about him that she didn't even notice that he was asking for her notebook. Soumya nudged her in the side and Mishti all but woke up from her reverie.
"Ha...?"
"Is English too much for your understanding? If you didn't understand my simple question then I suggest, it's not the class for you" said Mr Rana coldly. All the class started to laugh and Mishti felt her eyes burn from the tears of humiliation.
"I'm sorry" managed Mishti, all the while keeping her head down, she didn't want to give him the satisfaction that he'd made her cry.
"Alright, enough drama for today, let's begin our lecture now."
"how could he be so cruel!" Whispered Soumya, flabbergasted
" I don't care" said Mishti, vehemently.
"I just want to be as far away from him as I can!' Little did she know that their paths have already crossed and destiny has made her own plans for them.
So guys this story is inspired by one of my most favorite novels; 'Gabriel's Inferno. I'm sure most of you must have read that too. The concept of this story is same but the plot and the main story is quite different here. Please read it and gimme your precious reviews. I will try to update it regularly😊😊
