"Remind me again why I'm going ahead with this" Maan looked at his wife's reflection as she moved around behind him.
"Because you love me" she answered approaching him with a t-shirt. "Put this one on"
"I'm fine with the one I've got on"
"You're not going to a business party Maan" Geet rolled her eyes
"You could've asked for anything in the world but you asked for this?" he shook his head disapprovingly, Geet simply ignored him and handed him the t-shirt she'd chosen.
Maan shrugged off his shirt and slipped into the t-shirt. "What are you doing tonight then?"
"Sleeping, I'm tired" Geet answered grabbing her night dress and changed in the walk in closet.
"Do you need me to get anything on the way?" Maan entered the closet grabbing his socks and shoes.
Geet shook her head pointing to the zip, he zipped up her nightdress smiling as she turned around pressing a kiss to his lips. "Enjoy tonight please"
"I'm going out with the 3 idiots" he reminded.
"It's just bowling" she chuckled closing the distance between them looping her arms around his neck. "I want to hear about it and so does peanut"
"You're going to traumatise our baby by calling him or her peanut"
"Maan" she smacked his arm scowling.
He laughed scooping her up in his arms and walked out the closet and placed Geet on their bed pulling the blanket over her. "Would you like anything to eat or drink?"
"No, I'm going to sleep. Enjoy tonight for me"
He sighed unsure how this night was even going to go. "I'll try"
"Ready for a good ole boys night out?" Vikrant asked climbing into his brother's car.
"Just know that I don't have a choice" Maan replied.
"I never ever thought I'd hear this from you bhai" he laughed.
"Neither did I" he murmured and started the car. "Has Karan set off?"
"Yeah, he's already there. Ranbir is on his way"
"Why did you invite Romeo? Karan is going to spend the night away glaring"
"You're not going to be glaring?" Vikrant arched his brows.
"Araina clearly made her intentions known the other day, it's her life" Maan responded, he wouldn't have accepted Ranbir had it not been for Geet who'd asked him to give a chance to Ranbir. She'd reminded him that he shouldn't judge someone without knowing like he'd done. That sentence did it for him so he agreed to give Ranbir the benefit of the doubt.
"How is work?" Maan glanced at his brother.
"It's going okay, it's a demanding job. I think I would've quit by now if it hadn't been for Meera supporting and keeping me motivated"
"She's good for you" Maan told Vikrant. "Even if you both were irresponsible, you're living up to dadima's expectations. She doesn't say it much but she's proud of you"
Vikrant grinned. "That's all I'd ever wanted. What about you?"
"What about me?" he questioned.
"Are you proud of me bhai?"
"Vikrant, I'm always going to be proud of you. Even if you can be stupid majority of the times, you've done really well over the past few months. "
Had it been someone else, Vikrant may have been offended and insulted however he simply laughed grinning widely. He felt immensely pleased that Maan was proud of him. He didn't think he'd have gotten praised by his brother.
"We're here" Maan announced as he parked up, they both climbed out and made their way inside, Karan and unfortunately Ranbir were already here.
Karan as usual scowled miserably at Ranbir.
"Seriously, we're here to enjoy a night without these eyes" Vikrant placed a hand over Karan's eyes.
"Asshole" Karan pushed away Vikrant's hand.
"Alright, enough" Maan looked between his brother and cousin. "We're not here to argue" he told them then walked over to the reception area booking an aisle and renting out appropriate bowling shoes. Vikrant, Ranbir and Karan followed suit.
"No teams, we're solo" Vikrant informed as they neared the aisle they had booked.
"That's fine with me" Karan agreed.
"Drinks" Ranbir pointed to the waitress who'd brought over a tray of the drinks they'd ordered. Maan and Karan settled for soft drinks as they were both driving, Ranbir had chosen lemonade as he doesn't drink and Vikrant chose a bottle of beer.
A couple of hours into the game, it'd come to a tie between Vikrant and Maan as they'd both played a lot over the years, it didn't surprise Karan as Maan and Vikrant always used to do this for Friday with their father. Maan relaxed slightly as the time passed, one could even say he was enjoying it.
"How about some food now?" Karan suggested as they sat down around their table gulping down their drinks.
"Their fattening burgers or a restaurant?" Vikrant looked to his brother.
"A burger is fine" Maan rolled his eyes knowing what his brother pointed out, Vikrant chuckled nodding his head and stood.
"C'mon Ranbir, let's go get some burgers and chips" Vikrant gestured.
"Having fun?" Karan questioned looking at Maan.
"It's been a good night" he replied. "I'd come here with Geet once, dadima was planning to send us out for dinner and I suggested we go bowling"
"Did bhabhi even know how to play?"
"Nope, guided her and she'd been able to play better than me since" Maan chuckled.
"Sounds like her" Karan nodded.
"I'm surprised you came along" Maan told him. "I wasn't expecting you seeing as you've been miserable with your crazy girlfriend away for the full week"
"I know how to have a good time unlike you" Karan responded. "And speaking of crazy, what was she thinking extending her weekend stay for like a 3 week break! Who does that?"
"Your girlfriend" Maan smirked.
"Whatever" Karan narrowed his eyes.
A few moments later Vikrant and Ranbir returned with burger meals for all and they all dug in hungrily, after they had eaten they went for another 3 rounds at bowling before Maan called it a night as it neared almost midnight. He'd been out the house for nearly 4 hours, he knew Geet probably was asleep however he wanted to check on her.
"How was it?"
"Jesus!" Maan nearly jumped turning around swiftly and looked at his wife. "I thought you've gone to sleep"
"I couldn't sleep so I was reading books" Geet grinned.
"So were you just pretending when I checked on you?" he arched his brows.
"Yeah, it was difficult trying not to laugh especially when you tripped over your own shoes"
"Seriously Geet? Here I was trying to be quiet and not wake you up and you were awake this whole time" he shook his head rolling his eyes.
"Anyway forget all that, I want to hear about your night" she shifted closer sliding her arms around his middle resting her head on his shoulder.
"It was good"
"That isn't a proper answer, what did you do?"
"We'd gone out bowling, Vikrant and I'd won on a tie" he smiled.
"What about Karan and Ranbir? Did they get along?"
"Karan reeled himself in tonight"
"That is so good, what did you have for dinner?"
"Burger meals"
"Did you have fun?"
Maan smiled and answered "Yes, I enjoyed tonight"
"I'm so happy" Geet stated tightening her arms around her husband and pressed a kiss to his cheek. Maan laughed pulling her closer and pressed a kiss to the tip of her nose. He hadn't thought that his wife would be this happy, seeing her grinning made him pleased.
He brushed his fingers through her hair and cradled her cheek. Lowering his head he kissed her deeply.
"Thank you for doing this" he whispered against her lips, he knew she'd wanted this promise from him more for himself rather than her.
"You are very welcome" she murmured, Maan arched his brows when he felt her feet caress his calf teasingly. Geet squealed when he slipped his arms around her and lifted her resting her atop of him, she laughed cradling his cheeks and kissed him passionately.
"Veer sir, would you please listen to me"
"I don't want to listen to you, walking disaster"
"Walking disaster?"
Veer nodded.
"If I'm a walking disaster then what are you? You pig-headed, arrogant egoistical devil!"
"Maya..." Veer stepped forward narrowing his eyes.
Maya didn't look away, instead she stepped forward pressing her nose to his. "Yes SIR"
"Why you..."
"And they're back at it again, glaring at each other" Maan shook his head smirking. Everyone had gathered in the living room after dinner to watch Vikrant's show, it wasn't something that Maan was interested in but Geet wanted this quiet time with their family as part of their thing' which he couldn't even deny. Since this quiet time had become a part of their routine, Maan had come to appreciate his family even more. During these times, he'd observe them and appreciate the bonding they all shared. What he loved more was that he was seeing his brother working and getting a lot of appreciation for his role as an angry young man. He hadn't thought Vikrant would pull of such a character but watching him each night, he could see it. He knew how hard Vikrant was working in the show and Meera helped him each night afterwards, sometimes they'd both roleplayed in front of them to help Vikrant. He hadn't given his input however Geet and dadima helped him by giving their opinions.
Vikrant threw a cushion at him narrowing his eyes, Meera laced her fingers with his placing her head on his shoulder silently telling him she's pleased.
"My bacha is good actor though" Dadima grinned caressing Vikrant's hair. "I'm so proud of you" she pressed a kiss to his forehead.
"I'm her favourite" Maan called out from the other sofa, Geet nudged him for ruining Vikrant and Dadima's moment.
"Accha?" Dadima arched her brows.
"Dadima, you don't have to deny it. You can tell him, he won't cry like he used to when he was a baby" Maan replied.
"Aapko kaise pata aap hi dadima ke favourite hai" Geet questioned. "Main dadima ki favourite hoon"
"Aur tumhe kaise pata ki tum dadima ke favourite ho?" he looked at her amused.
"Kyun maine kahan, Geet hi meri favourite hai" dadima intervened raising her brows at Maan who'd looked at her surprised.
Maan then shrugged and looked at Geet. "You're only her favourite because you've got peanut" he pointed out.
"Dadima?" Geet looked at her questioningly.
"You're listening to Maan? He's just jealous" Dadima responded.
"That's the best you can do dadima" Maan smirked.
"I'm going to smack you with my sandals Maan" dadima warned.
"I'd like to see you try" he answered.
Geet frowned and tapped Maan's cheek. "There, I done it for dadima"
"Geet" Maan scowled which only made her laugh, the others joined in. Instead of being angry, Maan smiled shaking his head at his wife.
"I'm nervous" Geet turned to Maan.
"I'm here" he took her hand into his squeezing reassuringly, he himself was nervous. They'd had a few check ups but not an ultrasound yet.
Geet had passed her 12th week mark and the doctor suggested an ultrasound so that they'd be able to confirm the baby's due date, both Maan and Geet were nervous as this was their first scan where they were going to see their baby for the first time.
The doctor walked into the room as they waited patiently, Geet pushed her t-shirt upwards taking deep breaths.
"This is a little cold" The doctor smiled as she put on some gel on her stomach, Geet scrunched her nose looking at Maan, they both slowly turned to the screen hearing heartbeats.
Geet's heart paced faster as her eyes fell on her developed baby, tears glistened in her eyes as she saw her baby for the first time, the baby was now developed. Baby wasn't anymore a peanut sized dot but a fully developed baby who is just yet to grow properly.
"Baby is developing as expected" the doctor spoke. "Babies are this stage can squirm, unfortunately we don't feel it so early as they're still very small" she added. "You can spend a few moments alone here, I'll go print some pictures off for you to take" she excused herself and left the room.
Geet nodded and looked at Maan, his eyes were fixated on the screen.
He knew today he would do anything for his baby, he didn't need to see his child to know he would love this baby unconditionally. His wife was carrying a part of them in her womb, he blinked feeling his eyes burn, and tried very hard not to shed his tear.
Geet cradled his cheek smiling, her own eyes filled with tears. "Hamara baby Maan..." she whispered. Maan hugged her tightly pressing his face into the hollow of her neck.
Geet smiled looking back at the screen where her baby's picture was and smiled brightly.
Maan straightened pulling back and pressed a kiss to Geet's temple, he stood and offered a smile at the doctor.
"I've got some pictures printed out for you" the doctor told Geet wiping her stomach with a few tissues and took off her gloves. "Come join me" she told her and walked over to her desk. Maan took Geet's hand as they settled opposite her and she walked through what Geet should expect in the following weeks.
Once she'd gone through everything she finally told Maan and Geet the approximate due date for the baby, and handed over a envelope that held a few copies of the ultrasound.
After thanking the doctor they both left the hospital, Maan squeezed Geet's hand as they walked back to the car.
Dadima smiled seeing Geet and Maan return from their appointment.
"What did the doctor say?"
"Baby is due July 15th" Geet squealed and rushed over dadima's side. "Baby's picture dadima" she pointed pulling out the envelope and showed the ultrasound copies to her.
Dadima felt her heart peak as she looked at the baby, though it was only a grainy image it was more than that for her. This baby was her great grandchild, it was her Maan and Geet's baby. She took Geet in her arms and hugged her tightly, happy tears glistened in her eyes. She looked at Maan and waved him over, Maan hugged dadima pressing a kiss to her forehead. Dadima caressed both their cheeks. "You've both made me the happiest woman in this world" she chuckled. Maan brushed away her tears.
"Don't cry dadima" he took her into his arms and held her. "All this is possible because of you, if you hadn't... none of this would've been possible" he looked at Geet.
"Haan dadima" Geet agreed and slipped her arms around dadima and wrapped her arm around Maan's waist and he slipped his arm around his wife's shoulder.
Amelia halted in surprise and her eyes widened seeing Karan leaning against his car outside the airport. She broke in a smile and ran over towards him, Karan straightened smiling as she approached him throwing her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly.
"I missed you soo much"
"That's why you'd extended your trip" Karan rolled his eyes.
"Well I did miss but I loved Dubai! It was so beautiful" she pulled her head back and grinned widely. "I wasn't expecting you to be here"
"I wasn't either but... I found myself driving here instead of work"
"Why don't you simply say you missed me?" she frowned.
Karan stared at her silently.
"Karan" she smacked his shoulder and he chuckled.
"I missed you crazy" he mumbled.
"Eee" Amelia squealed hugging him again tightly.
"You both planning to move or do you plan to make love here?" Puja interrupted looking between them.
"Puja..." Karan placed Amelia down on her feet.
"Hi sir" she waved.
"You gave me a short notice" Karan narrowed his eyes.
"Lecture only in the office" Puja held out her hand. "I'm out of office and technically still on holiday until Monday" she reminded. "And I'll see you Monday, bhai is here" she grinned and walked towards Arav who'd just parked up and jogged towards his sister.
"Hey" Arav waved over at Karan and Amelia.
"Hi Arav!" Amelia called out.
Karan looked away and turned to Amelia. "Let's go. Where's your luggage?" he asked.
"Oh, yeah" she ran back to where she'd left the luggage trolley and pointed.
"3 suitcases?" Karan looked at her shocked.
"Yeah, I stayed for nearly a month. I couldn't wear the same clothes. I had to buy two more suitcases" she told him as he walked over and pushed the trolley towards his car.
"Text me later" Puja called out once Arav had placed her luggage into the car.
"Yeah, I'll catch up soon" Amelia waved. "Bye Arav"
"Bye Ames" Arav waved and climbed into the car and drove away.
"If we fall and die, I'm going haunt Karan" Maan told Geet as they walked towards the hot air balloon pilot who waited for them.
"You're more scared than me" Geet laughed.
"It isn't funny Geet" he frowned.
"It's hilarious" Geet giggled. "How can you be scared of heights?"
"I'm just... paranoid a little" he corrected.
"Same thing" she shrugged. "Are you scared of flights?"
"I don't look out the window" he responded.
"Out of all the things, you're scared of heights" she grinned teasingly.
"If you don't stop repeating the same thing, I'm going to destroy that library" he promised.
"No, you can't do that" Geet frowned pouting her lips.
"Then zip it" he narrowed his eyes.
Geet snickered unable to keep a straight face and burst out laughing.
"Geet..." Maan grated his teeth trying to seem angry but it seemed impossible with her laughing and having so much fun.
"Chaliye" she gestured and jogged towards the pilot looking all excited for balloon ride.
Maan caught up with her and silently listened to the pilot explaining the process.
Maan cursed Karan as he climbed into the hot air balloon, he gripped the edges tightly forcing himself to focus on just keeping his eyes up rather than daring to look down.
He looked at Geet who held onto the edges taking in the breath taking views.
"I think I'm going to be sick" Maan mumbled as they were returned to the ground an hour later, he'd moved a few feet away coughing violently.
Geet took the bottle of water the pilot offered and rushed over towards Maan.
"Maan, pani" she unscrewed the cap and passed it to him. "I'm sorry Maan, mujhe nahi pata ta ke..." she looked at him feeling extremely guilty.
Maan sipped the water slowly then screwed the cap and turned to Geet shaking his head. "It wasn't you" he told her sliding his arm around her shoulder and pressed a kiss to her temple.
After a few moments, Maan and Geet thanked the pilot and walked towards their car.
"Are you okay?" Geet asked pressing a hand to his forehead. "You look all red"
"I'm fine, better now that my feet are on the ground" he assured.
"I didn't know it was like a phobia"
"It's okay, I'm feeling much better" he told her taking a few more sips of his bottle water. "I'd probably just go and kill Karan though, the bas***d knew" he scowled.
"I'll help you" Geet responded which made Maan smile.
"I won't do it because I don't want my wife and baby to see prison" he smiled.
"Baby and I'll help, it would be easier to hide the body" she chuckled.
"We probably shouldn't talk about killing and prison in front of baby" Maan laughed.
"We shouldn't" Geet leaned forward kissing his cheek. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm feeling a lot better" he answered sincerely.
"Geet! Geet!" Amelia yelled as she entered the mansion. She'd been back two days now however hadn't been able to come visit Geet yet as she was catching up on her sleep and her boyfriend who'd funnily been really attentive and sweet. He hadn't made her swear and curse him. She should go away often for breaks she thought to herself this morning and then she realised she hadn't seen her silly best friends.
"Amelia bete" Dadima climbed down the stairs. "Aap wapas kab aaye?"
"Do din pehle dadima" Amelia answered.
"How was Dubai?"
"Best trip ever! I'm going to go there for my honeymoon"
"Accha?" Dadima looked at her amused.
"Waise woh traiter Geet kahan hai?" Amelia straightened remembering who she'd come to see.
"Bahar gayi ha..." Dadima paused. "Lo dono aagaye" she gestured as both Maan and Geet walked in.
Geet halted staring at her friend in surprise and noticed the angry scowl. "Hi" she waved meekly taking steps back.
"Geet ki bacchi! Tu..."
"Bete ek, ek minute" Dadima held her arm stopping her from running towards Geet. "Don't you want to see your niece or nephew first?" she asked.
"What?" Amelia looked confused then dadima pointed to the frame memento making Amelia gasp. "Aww look at my baby" she gushed picking up the frame and admired it.
"Baby I'm your aunty, your favourite aunty mind you" she brushed her fingers over the memento. Amelia looked up at Geet. "Be glad you've got baby protecting you"
"I love you too" Geet responded.
Amelia huffed rolling her eyes. "C'mere fatty, I missed you lot so much" she walked over and hugged Geet tightly. "I can't believe you're pregnant, wait... does that mean you didn't need my gift then?" she pulled back.
Maan's cheeks heated as he remembered her so called gift, he avoided looking at Amelia and continued inside hurrying up the stairs.
"Maan jeej" Amelia turned around smiling in amusement. "How did you like my gift?"
"What?" Maan looked at her shocked.
"My nothing' jar" Amelia emphasised. "Which gift were you thinking?" she arched her brows smirking.
Maan shook his head rolling his eyes at her, Amelia laughed which made him chuckle, he turned around and headed towards his bedroom leaving Geet to catch up with her friend.
