Chapter 100
Geet stared at herself once she'd finished dressing,
who'd have thought one day she'd be here, married and pregnant and so in love
with her husband.
Never had she dreamed of such a future where she'd be so
loved by a lot of people, she closed her eyes smiling feeling her husband's
arms wrap around her and his lips pressed to her cheek.
"Where are you lost?" Maan whispered admiring
her reflection on the mirror.
She shook her head in response and turned in his arms,
her hands sliding around his neck as she tilted her head back and stared up at
him. "Sometimes all this feels unreal" she whispered.
"Why?" he twirled a lock of her hair around his
finger.
"Two years back I couldn't have ever imagined this..."
she confessed. "When darji married me off, I felt as if I was leaving one
hell to enter another..." tears glistened in her eyes "but dadima... she
saved me from that hell" she inhaled deeply.
"Geet... that part of your life is behind you"
Maan cradled her cheek. "Don't think about it, look forward to our future"
he glanced at her abdomen. "We're going to be parents, we've come so far
from where we started"
She closed her eyes nodding her head smiling as Maan
brushed his nose against hers.
"We're going to give our baby a beginning to life
that we both never had" he told her.
She agreed tiptoeing and hugged him tightly, Maan wrapped
his arms around the small of her back and lifted her off her feet.
"Where's bhai and bhabhi?" Vikrant asked as he
walked into the mansion with Meera. "Puja is going to start soon..."
"They'll be down soon" Dadima replied. "Meera
bete aake yeh taali kardoge" she pointed.
"Ji dadima" Meera smiled and approached their
temple.
"Bohut sundar lag rahe ho" Dadima petted her
cheek.
"I brought that for her dadima, my choice is so
great right?" Vikrant piped in.
"In girls your choice is great bete but even I know
you didn't buy this for her" Dadima responded shaking her head making
Meera laugh.
"Where is your loyalty Meers?" Vikrant frowned
disappointed.
"What has this got to do with loyalty?" she
nudged him.
"Dadima, wife is meant to side with husband right?"
"You're watching too much indian serials"
Dadima responded playfully smacking his cheek.
"I swear down..." He huffed seeing his wife and
dadima turning against him.
"Geet aagayi..." Meera pointed grinning widely as
she watched.
Geet had donned on a black and gold patterned saree,
she'd twisted her hair into a bun and applied minimum makeup to her face. She
didn't bother with changing jewellery as she enjoyed wearing the necklace and
earrings that Maan gifted her.
She did however hook a small waist chain around her
middle and slipped on the diamond payals Maan had bought on their goa trip last
year. Though Geet may have stolen everyone's attention Maan didn't look any
less handsome dressed in his white sherwani with silver patterns and white
gemstones. He'd wanted to opt for one of his suits however Geet refused to let
him choose a suit as a puja was held for them today.
Geet and Maan approached dadima taking her blessings,
they exchanged a few words between one another but halted and glanced over
their shoulder hearing a commotion.
Araina walked in followed by Karan as they bickered
amongst each other.
"Stop being such an ass" Araina screamed and
stormed over.
"I shouldn't have even invited these two"
dadima murmured shaking her head. "Whenever they come, they're always
fighting"
"Karan, Araina" Dadima walked over towards them
staring between them unfavourably.
"Dadima he doesn't stop" Araina huffed crossing
her arms. "First he has problem with Ranbir now he..."
"Bas bas bas" Dadima held out her hand. "Dono
chup kariye" she shot a stern glance at Karan who wanted to speak. "Aaj
khushi ke din hai, dono yahan aake spoil mat kariye" she informed them
firmly.
"It's him" Araina smacked Karan.
"Why you..." Karan moved forward.
"Are you a kid Karan?" Maan intervened. "Leave
her alone"
"Of course you're going to side with her" Karan
scowled.
"Bhai is being moody because Amelia isn't here so
he's annoying me" Araina glared at her brother.
"Dono mujhe pagal kardoge, pata nahi Anisha tum dono
ko kaise sehti hai" Dadima muttered. "I don't want to hear anymore
arguments, come and join us for puja. Anisha kahan hai?"
"Maaji main yahin hoon, dono bache bhi na..."
Anisha walked in holding a wrapped up box.
"You couldn't even help?" Maan shook his head
at his cousin.
"Mama I did say I'll get it afterwards" Karan
looked at his mother.
"Shut up, you would've forgotten because you spend
most of the time arguing with Araina" Anisha frowned. "Once I get you
both married, my life will be peaceful"
"I'm not getting married" Karan countered.
"I'm marrying Ranbir only"
"You've only started dating him?" Karan looked
at his sister surprised.
"So? I know when I find the one he's my the one"
"We'll discuss the one afterwards" Dadima cut
in seeing Karan scowl. "Chalo ab, puja ke liye" she gestured.
Rano and Mohini arrived just in time and blessed both
Maan and Geet and wishing them both a happy married life. After exchanging
pleasantries dadima asked everyone to come into the temple and pray. After the
puja was over, dadima asked everyone to move into the dining room to eat
breakfast...
Hey Miserable, I've just landed in Dubai and the place is
so stunning! On our honeymoon we should come here Amelia smiled to herself and
pocketed her phone.
"What are you laughing for?" Puja arched her
brows. "Please don't tell you're texting Karan already?"
Amelia shrugged. "What, I'm missing him..."
"You didn't tell him that did you?"
"No, are you mad? If I tell him that, it'd inflate
his ego. My mission is to deflate that huge ass ego of his" Amelia
laughed. "Anyway let's quickly change and head out to the beach. We'll
grab some dinner at a nearby restaurant..."
Maan admired his wife silently from the corner he was sat
in, she was sitting between dadima and her mother talking away with them all,
seeing her relaxed and comfortable pleased him a great deal. Like Geet said
upstairs, they hadn't imagined this for their life.
He wouldn't have ever dreamed on letting a woman into his
life, with Geet he not only allowed her into his life but into his heart as
well.
The love he felt for his wife was immeasurable,
indescribable and there was no end to this love. His heart expanded each time
he thought of her carrying their child in her womb, it'd been hard but with
each day he'd slowly been able to adjust to the idea of having a baby.
He was nervous for sure, but he knew with Geet and dadima
beside him he'd be able to be a good father to their child, he wouldn't be
perfect but that didn't mean he wouldn't try.
He knew Geet would be a great mother, he smiled as he
recalled what she'd said the other night.
"Did you know the baby is the size of peanut now?"
Geet turned to Maan.
"Hmmm..." he hummed though hadn't been listening
as he was too busy catching up with his work.
"Maan" Geet frowned sitting up.
"Yeah I'm listening" he murmured continuing to
type.
"Maan..." she poked his bicep.
"Yes wife" he finally looked away from his
screen once he'd saved his document.
"Did you listen to me at all?" she grimaced.
"Uh something about peanut... Did you want peanuts?"
he placed his laptop aside and turned to her focusing on her.
"Did you know when you're looking after baby, your
attention should be on baby 100 percent of the time?" Geet questioned
rhetorically.
"Did you want me to answer that?" he asked.
"When baby comes are you going to be working away
and letting baby walk wherever? What if baby goes onto the balcony?"
"Where do you get such thoughts from?" Maan
chuckled.
"Mujh par has rahe hai?" she scowled.
Maan shook his head pressing his lips together, Geet
turned her head away ready to climb out, he reached out grabbing her and pulled
her onto his lap, he tightened his arms around her resting his chin on her
shoulder.
"I was just teasing you Geet" he pressed a kiss
to the side of her neck. "Tell me what you were saying..."
"I'm not telling you now" she responded.
"Okay, don't tell me" he laughed. "By the
way we should probably try that game of yours... you know different positions,
we've not tried that morning one you mentioned" he whispered.
"Maan..." Geet blushed dipping her eyes down.
"Bataoge ya phir..."
"Okay, okay... I was saying" Geet cleared her
throat trying to control herself. "baby is size of peanut now"
"Which book are you on Geet?" Maan asked
realising the cover of the book is different from the one she'd been reading.
"This is the third one" Geet smiled. "Why?"
Maan shook his head. "Preparing already?" he
asked her gently.
Geet smiled faintly shrugging. "Time will go really
fast and before we know it, baby will be here. I want to be prepared for baby"
Those words of his wife's gave him comfort, it was taking
time but Geet had slowly adjusted to their pregnancy news. If she's preparing
already then he had no doubt she'd be a great mother, he hadn't missed how
she'd increased her liquids during the whole day wanting to stay hydrated.
She'd even snack on fruits and nuts, those little signs reassured him each time
that his wife wants their baby.
"You're staring a lot at bhabhi aren't you?"
Karan joined him on the sofa.
"She is my wife Karan so I can stare as much as I
want" Maan responded. "Where's your crazy girlfriend?"
"Dubai. I want to kill that Arav who'd bought those
tickets for a prize" Karan muttered.
Maan didn't hear instead he noticed Geet sharing a few
words with dadima, dadima nodded and Geet stood walking in the direction of the
kitchen.
He looked at dadima questioningly who smiled at him in
reassurance though that didn't ease his curious mind, when he saw her return he
smiled inwardly knowing what she was doing.
Vikrant and Meera shared a small smile between each
other.
"Isn't cake for later bhabhi?" Araina asked. "We
just had such a big breakfast"
Geet smiled shyly biting her lower lip as she slowly
placed the cake down on the coffee table and returned to dadima's side, other
than Meera, Vikrant and dadima everyone else seemed confused.
"Why is there a baby's picture on the icing?"
Araina asked. "It's anniversa..."
"Arre buddhu she's pregnant" Anisha nudged her
daughter as realisation dawned.
Rano turned to Geet in surprise, Geet blushed furiously
nodding her head.
Maan smiled as everyone showered her with hugs, blessings
and love.
"Congratulations" Karan turned to Maan smiling.
"Thanks" he nodded.
"You've finally lost your virginity then?"
Karan teased quietly.
"Don't make me break your nose Karan, I broke it
once" Maan replied.
"What?" Amelia screamed over the phone.
Puja jerked up, her sunglasses falling off her face and
her heart beating rapidly. "What happened?" she turned to Amelia.
"Why didn't you all wait for me?" Amelia raised
her voice. "I should be there"
"Kya hua?" Puja nudged her.
"Geet's pregnant" Amelia huffed.
"Awww that's such great news" Puja smiled.
"No it isn't!" Amelia snapped and continued
screaming at Meera who'd relayed the news. "How could you Meers?"
"What did I do?" Meera rolled her eyes at her
dramatic friend whilst everyone laughed in the background as the phone was on
loudspeaker.
"I should've been there! I'm baby's most coolest
aunt, I should've been there" she repeated.
"I feel for you" Maan murmured softly.
"I feel for myself" Karan shook his head.
"Give it to Geet" Amelia demanded.
Geet shook her head immediately, she wasn't going to talk
to Amelia when she's yelling and angry.
"Geet take the phone of Meera or I'm coming back
home!" Amelia threatened.
Geet smacked her forehead and slowly took the phone. "Hii..."
"Don't hi me!" Amelia huffed. "How could
you do this to me?"
"Congratulations Geet" Puja yelled from the
background.
"Thanks Puja"
"Answer me!" Amelia demanded scowling at Puja
daring her to utter one more word.
Puja giggled and leaned back listening silently.
"Don't shout, peanut's ears are going to hurt"
Geet blurted.
"Peanut?" Karan snickered, Maan simply shook
his head smiling inwardly.
"I'm goi..."
"Bas bas bete" Dadima took the phone from Geet.
"Don't scream so much bete, your voice will go" she chuckled.
"Dadima Geet didn't wait for me" Amelia
groaned. "I've got more right than all of then na? I'm baby's coolest
aunt. I'm much more cooler than Meera people!"
"And I'm a Khurana so I top you" Meera laughed.
"Karan if you're listening, you better make me a
Khurana when I land in Delhi in two days" Amelia stated, Karan blinked in
shock.
"Bete you're on holiday, aap enjoy kijiye. When
you're back you can take their class" dadima chuckled.
"Not funny dadima" Amelia mumbled.
"Teek hai teek hai... Mazak nahi karenge, aap ab enjoy
kijiye"
"Hmm..." Amelia hummed. "Tell Geet I'm naming
the baby, she's not allowed. That's her punishment for not telling me"
Dadima chuckled and answered. "teek hai bete. Ab hum
rakte hai"
"Okay, bye. Happy anniversary by the way pregnant
cow" Amelia sang out cutting the phone.
"Ek taraf humare Karan aur Araina aur dusre tarah
humare pagal Amelia..." dadima laughed passing Meera's phone back to her.
"Dadima we need to start preparations for bhai's
wedding" Araina winked.
"Don't you dare" Karan warned.
"Don't you both be starting now..." Anisha
intervened.
After a little while, dadima told everyone to go get
ready as they'd planned to spend the afternoon by the beach and enjoy a small
picnic together.
Geet was in the walk in closet grabbing her dress when
Maan approached her hugging her from behind. "You've not told me yet what
you want for our anniversary" he reminded.
Geet smiled and turned around in his embrace.
"First you've got to promise me that you're going to
give me that?" Geet held out her hand.
"There isn't anything that I wouldn't give you Geet"
Maan replied cradling her cheeks.
Geet nodded and slowly told him what she'd liked. "I'd
like you to go out more and socialise"
Maan blinked in surprise then frowned in confusion. "Out
of all the things in the world that you could have asked for, you're asking
that I go out?"
"It isn't something amusing" Geet responded
noting that Maan seemed amused. "You're always busy doing work and when
you are free, you only interact with me or dadima" she added. "Aise
zindagi nahi chalti..."
"What sort of gift is this?" Maan shook his
head releasing her and walked back to their room. Geet followed placing her
dress on their bed and turned to her husband.
"You promised me" she reminded.
"What sort of promise is this Geet?" Maan
rested his hands on his hips. "It's not even a gift for you..."
"It is" Geet stepped forward. "Maan, it's
going to make me happy to see you have friends and socialising with others...
when I came here I didn't have anyone but today... I've got so many people around
me. When I'm not able to express myself to you, I've got friends who I can
speak to, but..."
"Geet, I..." Maan tried to cut in however she
shook her head and continued.
"You're still not able to trust fully, you don't
interact or socialise with anyone else. Not even Vikrant. You promised that
there isn't anything you wouldn't do, I want this"
Maan rubbed his face contemplating her words then nodded.
"Okay"
His answer made his wife a very happy woman, she threw
her arms around his neck and hugged him. "Thank you" she squealed
tightening her arms around him.
"So how does this promise of yours work?" he
asked as he released her after a moment.
"Okay, at the least once every fortnight you have to
plan a guy's night out then do whatever... movies, club, bowling whatever
interests you" she explained happily.
"Like our thing you told me about? Except it's a guy
thing?" he arched his brows.
Geet grinned shyly. "Mhmm"
Maan rolled his eyes not looking entirely too pleased at
having to spend a night out with his brother and cousin. "I have a feeling
I'm going to regret this" he murmured.
"Trust me?" she tiptoed resting her hands on
his shoulders pressing a kiss to his lips.
"With all my heart" he whispered pulling her
close, his hand cupping her nape and his lips brushing against hers. "Love
me?" he asked.
"Always Maan" she answered tilting her head
back as he covered her lips with hers kissing her passionately.
