Pardon me, but what is the need to have every word in any language to have an English translation ?

I ask only so that I would understand better. I don't know what those words mean. I do not mean to offend anyone. Just trying to broaden my own understanding of some issues. Sorry if I have offended you.

Even in 90's inter-caste marriage was not an issue, atleast in big cities like Mumbai. About Ahmedabad I don't know much. Most of my friends have married out of their caste without any issues from either of their families.

See you are talking about Mumbai
But there are other cities as well
and here we are talking about an Orthodox family

These are not castes, they are Varnas. What we call castes are actually called Jati . Caste is a word derived from the Portuguese word "casta", AFAIK.

yeah they are varnas
I was just trying to explain
Did not mean to offend someone's religious views

Arre guys, you are not offending anybody, at least not me.
All I am saying is we do not have to translate every word in English because sometimes meaning gets lost in translation so it is better to use the original word rather than translated one.
I am sorry if conveyed the wrong impression of being offended.

If you know history
there are 4 type of castes
Brahmin
chatriryas
vaishya
shudras

Baniyas fall in Vaishya

Hey I didn't know that Baniyas have sub casts too I always felt that all Baniyas are equal.
But I got the point we are Kayasths for example but there are 12 types of Kayasths and my in laws family is very particular that they want marriage in only Srivavastava kayasth any other sub cast not allowed but my family is slightly liberal in this regard. They are open to any subcast
But don't say it's a ninties issue. My cousin wants to marry a guy from different cast. He is a Marwari Banya too don't know his sub cast and my family are totally against it. They are like koi sa BHI Kayasth chalega ye kya Baniya uniya me jaana. I am like really fed up I was like jab Hindu hai to kya problem hai but no they are completely in a different horizon. Hopefully they understand soon

But Naina's jijaji's mother wanted his daughter to marry a Maheshwari (Sameer that is) and if I remember they were Garg so is Maheshwari Garg marriage allowed? Or are they more liberal family
By the way just for knowledge what is Somani and Kabra as Vishakha married a Somani and Sameer's dad was a Kabra?

Thanks for your personal example. Discrimination on arbitrary grounds is unfair and unacceptable. The world will be a so much better place if we could accept each other simply for being human and enjoy our diversity for the richness that it adds to our lives.
