Rakesh is a father of a girl and a boy. We have seen rakesh has always been partial to arjun saying mera beta, ghar ka waris. Naina a topper and an all rounder has never been acknowledged by her father. Its always padke kya karoge, kahaan kaam karna hain? have to get married and stay at home. Why to waste money on her studies or any school trips. Never once he has been proud of her. Is it still the same situation for a girl?
What has changed from 90's to 2018. Are girls such a big curse to the family?

Situation has definitely changed... The families which were killing girls before birth... Are allowing them to be born...
The families which didn't send their daughters to school are sending them now...
The families which use to send girls to school but didnt encourage them to do well or didnt appreciate them when the did good.. Are celebrating their success...

Though every family is still not there yet but have definitely changed relative to where they were earlier...

Its much better now.
the reason being, the generation who faced those issues, are now parents. and they wouldn't want their daughters to go through what they had to.

Also these days...there are more Anand Agarwal's in families and less of Taiji's. as compared to those days. So girls are getting more support now, if not from parents then definitely someone from extended family.

But still lots of room for improvement.

Alot has changed . With each generation things change. Sometimes for the better other times for the worse. The restrictions of the 90s was less than those of the 80s or 70s or any other time before. There was a time when girls were buried alive simply for being born a girl. There was also a time when girls were not allowed out of the doors of their homes or to look out through the window. So thing have constantly changed.
The responsibilities of males towards females have also changed. There was a time when women were the property of men to be done with as the man wished. He could sell her or make her his queen. He could chop off her head if he so wished.

In the world today, some girls are completely emancipated whilst others are still living the life of a by gone era. Thankfully more girls are being educated, governments have taken up many programs to uplift the condition of females. However many dangers lurk for females at home and in the broader world. #metoo shows one of the dangers for females. Rates of Rape, murder, femicide etc are highest for females.

Whilst some conditions have improved, the objectification of females continue. The struggle for the emancipation of all women is an ongoing one. Alta continua.

A lot has changed in terms of how girl child is being perceived and how parents let kids to decide their profession. However, you will still find parents (literate/illiterate, rich/poor) having the same mindset.. So it changes from person to person.. My parents came from a small city but gave me wings to fly.. Never kept any distance between me and my brother.. My mother's mindset came from her parents who didnt find any diff between boy and a girl. My dadi had the mindset of boys v/s girls but father never had..

even in 90's My father has been big support for me. Always wanted to do well in studies. Never discouraged me saying that finally you will get married and sit at home. its another thing that i don't have a brother.i always see my father in chacha ji. i am not able to digest how rakesh behaves with naina. even when in school we had a school trip i never asked my dad that i want to go. he actually pushed me to go. i was really blessed to have him. hope the things have changed to all those girls who want to achieve in life and fly high. It also depends on family and person to person.

yes many girls have suppressed their dreams of studying and working because of family restrictions and pressure. They want to complete that dream in their daughters.

Yup with changes in girls becoming more educated and working class, there is danger for them. There is always positive and negative outcomes for any aspect of life.
