Tamil Nadu: Man says SC has allowed adultery, wife kills her self...

CHENNAI: A police team questioning a security guard after his wife's suicide on Saturday night was prepared for some evasive reply but was stunned when the man admitted to telling her that she couldn't stop him from having an affair as the Supreme Court itself had ruled that adultery was not a crime. It was after this admission that Pushpalatha, 24, ended her life by hanging at the couple's MGR Nagar residence, a police officer said, adding that a note recovered from the house included this reason.

Before the judgement also, wife can't do anything. The new law only says that husband has no right to file a case against wife boyfriend.

before  this judgement adultery was crime..

now adultery is not crime...
now adultery is decriminalised...

there is huge difference between  what was before and what was now in the law...

This is a case of husband mentally harassing wife that pushed her to suicide. The man will be charged with provoking a person to suicide & it's a criminal offence since the wife has clearly mentioned him as the cause of her suicide in the suicide note.

Section 497 could never be applied to this case, since in the earlier version of 497, husband could not be dragged to court by their wives for involving in adulterous affair.
Only the other man was liable to be punished as per the Section 497.

As far as the adultery is concerned, the justice was not being served to genuine victim be it the husband or wife who has been cheated, since the spouse wasn't even being punished, who is actually the one to have violated the commitment of marriage in every sense by engaging in an affair outside marriage.

The improper interpretation of Section 497 has been subjected to many casual memes where many really don't understand what this section originally dealt with or what it has become now.

It's sad that the woman committed suicide because of cheating. The case is similar to lot of celebrity cases like that of Jiah Khan & Pratyusha Banerjee. Even there, the guys weren't punished.

What a joke the judiciary of India has become? Not that it was any great before. But seriously? Someone has to die so that adultery will be criminalised? Sick. Now more men will cheat happily and the women has to suffer more again. Great! As if the country was any kind to their women before this?! Waste to have any expectations.

What kind of a regressive and unjust law is this? ðŸ˜² Not familiar with laws in India but this seems like something taken from medieval times.
