Hello folks! Recently discovered this forum 😃
I had a doubt. Is Brahma Vaivarta Purana authentic? Wikipedia says that major part of this Purana was composed during the 16th- 17th century in Bengal. And this text mainly describes raas lila and love life of Lord Krishna. It also says that Krishna had intercourse with Gopis on their request.( But Krishna was only 8 years during raas lila, isn't it?). It also has stuff like Ganesha is an incarnation of Lord Krishna. The most interesting fact is this is the only Purana which describes Radha is detail whereas most of the texts have no mention of Radha. So is this Purana really authentic?

-Sorry if this has been discussed already-

Every Purana glorifies their main Deity. The stories are written by giving importance to  main Deity, for whom the Purana is written.
Same story is interpreted differently in different Puranas.
Vishnu Puran, mentions Vishnuji as almost everything. Other Deities are given secondary importance. Similarly Devi Bhagavat, has all Goddess centric stories.
Main intention of these Puranas is to get people interested in their stories & impart moral, divine teachings.
Various forms of Divine are Saguna Brahman. One can pic up form of God, they feel connected to.
Hence there can be difference of opinion about Divine forms. But ultimately these forms just helps Spiritual seekers & guides them in understanding their Ishta's qualities.
