Why does a person make New Year's Resolutions?
Because the human mind is adept at remembering important dates. People assume that if they keep a resolution on an important milestone, they'll have a better chance of keeping it.
It's actually entirely ridiculous. Just because your mind remembers New Year's Day better than other days doesn't mean that it'll subconciously stop you from eating that extra slice of pie to help you meet that goal of 15 pounds.
