Noorie was playing with her friends in the garden when one of her friends asked her, "Noorie, today is Laylatul Al Miraj, my mummy papa said, but I don't have any idea which celebration it is", said Waqas pouting.
"Haan, us too!", replied Sara and Jameel in unison.
"Don't worry let's ask my Dadu about this."
All the kids ran to see Dadu who was sitting in his study room reading one of his favourite books.
"Dadu, Dadu !" Noorie rushed in her grandfather's arms... "My friends were telling me that today is Lailatul Al Miraj but we don't have any idea what the day is about...Dadu ! Can you please tell us the story please?"
"Here my kids, sit down and I'll tell you everything.
Laylatul Al Miraj is the day when Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon him) met Angel Ji'Bril while he was asleep and has started his journey to the high skies."
"Aww.. this means that the Prophet met the stars too ?" Asked Jameel surprised.
"Not only the stars my child, giggled the old wise man but he went to meet Allah SWT (God) too. His journey has started from Mecca to the high skies. We call that journey also Al Israa ( The Night Journey )."
"Did he met God ? What God told the Prophet ?", Asked Sara.
"Prophet Muhammad met God and He gave him few duties that Muslims have to follow."
"What kind of duties ?" Asked a curious Noorie.
"Muslims have to pray five times a day, before the sun rises (Al Fajr) , mid-day prajer (Al Zohr), Evening prayer (Al Asr), when the sun downs (Al Maghrib) and the night prayer (Al Ishaa). "
"How did the Prophet travelled to the Heaven ? At that time there was no plane naa," said Noorie.
"Exactly my child, you're right, there were no planes at that time... The Prophet travelled from Mecca to Jerusalem in a single night on a strange winged creature who was called Buraq. He met also the previous Prophets during his night journey."
"What happened when he met the Prophets ?" asked Jameel.
"The Prophet met the others prophets in the Temple of Salomon, and they all performed a prayer directed by the Prophet Muhammad. "
"Dadu, tell us how do we celebrate this day now ?",asked Noorie.
"We celebrate this day by performing our daily prayers and
by remembering how Salat (prayer) is important in our lives. It's a day to
reflect on ourselves. Many of us go to mosques to pray and attend sermons about
this day and the importance that Lailatul Al Miraj has in Islam."
The Crazy Creatives wish you a day placed under countless blessings and love and may all your prayers get accepted.
