I agree majority of the fans are unhappy with Kashi's portrayal but that alone is not responsible to the downfall of the show. Majority of the fans are letdown coz the show did not focus on Bajirao's military conquests but became a saas bahu saga. Previously the war sequences were elaborated and planned n executed well. But after the leap besides Baji's entry there was no other war sequence. War sequences were played out as animated narration. How can the audience be happy with this? Instead of wasting time to showcase the budding romance between Kashi-Baji and Mastani's track, makers could have started like how SLB did with Baji Kashi as a normal husband wife couple. What was the need to waste 20 episodes to show how dumb a wife Kashi was and how prude Baji was.
This is not the first time history has been ruined to showcase a love story. As Kahiliginger pointed out, there was no real love story between Jodha Akbar. This is not to say Akbar did not respect her but it was just a political alliance. In almost every YouTube episode video, fans have outright expressed their dislike towards Mastani scenes and how they miss the war sequences. When you start a show on a channel where you know the probability of high TRPs is low then you need to come up with finite series that will focus on the content. Had they planned it well, they could have lasted few more months. Why should a story revolve around leads? Why did Baji have to be the male lead and Mastani the female lead? Why could the story not be the lead here? Even in the movie, focus was on characterisation though I wish Mastani was portrayed better there. I had seen few mins of friday's epi where Baji returns from winning a war n he is all alone with no one to welcome him besides his mother ðŸ˜• Is this how a peshwa is welcomed home? Baji asks about Chima's baby and its natural coz Rakma is dead and Chima is a grieving father but not for once did he mention Nana. Or does Nana Saheb even exist in the show's context? Even in the upcoming sequence, I cannot see Nana. Its just Baji-Kashi-Mastani-Chima-Radhabai-Ghotiya. The show just has 6 characters now? ðŸ¥±

That's another deliberate factual error. Chimna's wife Rakhma died soon after childbirth in August 1730. Mastani was living with Bajirao in Pune since July 1729. Which means Rakhma died a year after Mastani entered the Peshwa's life, and not before the Bundelkhand campaign of 1729, as shown in the PB episode.
Although Chimna was married to his second wife Annapurna a year after Rakhma's death Rakhma's son Sadashiv was brought up by Kashi and Radhabai because even after her wedding Annapurna lived with her parents until she attained puberty.

When they showed Mastani to be of Kashi's age we can ignore this minor error of Rakma's death. Nana shd have been around but makers did not want to waste their money on a child actor.

TFS the facts. I've never seen any biopic taking fictional liberty to THIS level! PB completely distorted history hence the early ending, and Sony must hav warned them abt low TRP's but makers payed no heed. Whoever the writer is, I hope he/she stays far away from such generes in future.

Not a minor error, it was a deliberate error. The real Kashi and Rakhma were on good terms with each other. After Rakhma died Kashi helped to raise Rakhma's infant Sadashiv. Likewise Kashi was confined at home raising Chimna's duaghter and Mastani's son after the loss of the children's parents. It takes a certain maturity to accept such responsibility. However no film or show maker will ever acknowledge this, they'd rather show Kashi as someone who was childish and impulsive.

PB makers tried to portray the Peshwa's strained relationship with Kashi prior to the Bundelkhand campaign. Bajirao is seen entering the residence with only Radhabai there to greet him while Kashi is away attending some social event.

He then cuddles infant Sadashiv and there is talk with Chimna about how life is lonely without a wife. The serial makers are defending Mastani's entry by trying to prove that Bajirao was unhappy in his marriage with Kashi. Such projections are historically inaccurate.

Yes it is not minor for sure but in the face of what they have done it feels like a small thing is what I am trying to say. Kashi was an unsung hero and it's sad she remained an unspoken voice. I saw that scene and I was even more angry when Kashi feels nothing as Radhabai tells her Baji has returned. In saas bahu shows the wife is portrayed as a social butterfly attending kitty parties n similar thing happened here. They just want to show what a sad soul he was n how Mastani rescued him from his misery. Funny thing is makers will now show Kashi responsible for Bajirao's deteriorating health. Saw another segment where Kashi seems to be regretting over something n falls to Radhabai's feet but she walks away. From what I have read Radhabai doted on Kashi n her reaction is only coz she feels Kashi was a bad wife in the show. Am already disgusted.  Nothing left to say. This was a worser ending than CAS.

We don't know enough about the personal lives of the Peshwa women. Radhabai was unlikely to have pampered Kashi even though she practically brought her up since her teens. But she was vehemently opposed to Mastani. Radhabai had the final say in all matters in the Peshwa household, she remained at the helm during the reign of three Peshwas- Balaji Vishwanath, Bajirao and later his son Balaji aka Nana.
Kashi had to learn to live in the shadow of such strong personalities as Radhabai, Bajirao and Chimaji. No wonder she learnt to co-exist with Mastani without protesting or shutting her husband out like SLB tried to show. In fact she even tried to convince Radhabai and Chimna to unite Mastani with Bajirao even if it meant compromising her own marital life to make Bajirao and Mastani happy.

Alas! I don't think any film or show maker will ever feel the need to project Kashi as she really was. Let us be prepared to see the worst on Monday.

Apparently they will show Mastani's death first, Bajirao will pine for her as he takes ill and become reunited with her in death. They have shown a segment of Mastani leading her lover away. And another where Kashi becomes agitated either by the Peshwa's illness or by his death. End of series on Monday in a 1 hour episode. Could not have been more abrupt!
Wish the actors had a better chance to prove their mettle. They were doing a good job.
