Ordinary and extraordinary are just perceptions. Like looking at two sides of the same coin. How true!

For Shivay Singh Oberoi, the blue eyed scion of the Oberoi house living in palatial homes, dining on the finest, dressed in royal finery and having the world at command at the snap of his finger was ... well ordinary.

Yet on the other hand there was Anika. Just Anika, thank you very much!! having so much as a smile thrown her way without the owner of said smile anticipating a pound of her flesh in return was...well extraordinary.

Together these two sides of the coin formed a story of love so seemingly extraordinary, yet simply ordinary!.

Kalyani Oberoi, the matriarch of the Oberoi's was in her youth a plain child. In fact many aunts, both maternal and paternal lamented that fate had dealt their favorite niece an unfair hand of cards. For someone so sweet tempered and bubbling with mirth how is it that she be blessed with a dusky complexion and a short stature?. Yet another aunt worried that her habit of talking to herself while gazing out of the windows into the vast blue sky, trying to probe its depths made her seem like a lunatic. How will their bhaisahab who was not made of money, get good rishtas for her?How is it that fair yet dimwitted Sumeeta marry the rich Chaddha boy?or that rich and ugly Simran marry the handsome Kumar boy? Life! they sighed was very unfair on Kalyani.

Little did her aunts know that their prayers were being heard and were answered in the form of the simple and honest Prithviraj Oberoi.

Prithviraj and Kalyani exchange what seemed to be a very brief glance at the local gurudwara. But on the steps of the Gurudwara when a pair of extraordinary blue-green eyes met a pair ordinary black eyes, the wahe guru himself revealed to these fortunate souls, that they were meant to be. That they would find in each other what they were looking for... what they were longing for.

Motherless Kalyani was adored by all her aunts, yet she longed for her own mother. To belong to someone and receive unparalleled love. Thats all she wanted. Since she knew what she missed out on, Kalyani resolved to love every child as her own. Her brand of love did not limit it self to children alone. Her poor father having lost the light of his life, his wife that is was now her child to nurture and care off. She saw what love could do, for had it not taken the life out of her father when her mother died trying to give birth to her baby sister?. Fate did not spare her sister even.

Easy going Kalyani knew she had to get married. But her strong belief in the power of love made her what she called an Ishqbaaz, crazy yet careful in love. She wanted someone equal for thats what she saw in her parents' marriage. She wanted someone who needed her just as much as she needed him. In the blue green eyes of that stranger she saw a part of herself calling out to her. She knew this was her ishqbaaz.

And so when Kalyani married Prithviraj she knew she could weather any storm. She knew they would have a fulfilling life together. She knew she could be grounded in their rags to riches story. She knew that Prithviraj would put their name right on top of the society yet their feet would be firmly planted on their foundation of love. 

Together with her prithviji she lived through the heartbreak their sons put them through. Watching Tej turn ruthless and Shakti turn meek was painful, but they bore it well. With Prithviji by her side she would find the strength to seek forgiveness for her helplessness from Jahnvi. With Prithviji by her side she would try to help Pinky over come her insecurities. With Prithviji by her side, her chest swelled with pride and love at Shivay-the fierce, Omkara-the serene, Rudra-the effervescent and Priyanka-the kind.

But when Prithviji went, with him went a part of her soul. She became still as the river , empty and vacant. Little did she know that she would come alive, this time without Prithviji. This time it would be Shivay and his Ishqbaaz that would make her proud. In their story Kalyani would live her life again, the same way she did with her Prithviji.

Maybe her Prithviji sensing her loneliness moved the gods to breath love into her life via her beloved Billu and his Ishqbaaz.
