First Fight
That evening Ashvin did not come looking for her, he didnt chat with her, the whole evening went by, Mandira went out with her friends, leaving Trisha to be by herself
She stayed up until midnight in the living room the stunning windows in every direction gave her an almost 360 view of the setting sun, when he knocked on the door.
She went to say hello to Prasad, but was able to bring MJ home since Prasad was out of town according to his "cat sitter"
a gal who got paid JUST to keep MJ and the new kitten entertained
The kitten scowled when she picked up so she let her roll on the rug and didnt bring her
She answered it in one ring
He smiled politely nodding in acknowledgement
"Did you have a nice evening?" he asked courteously
"I brought MJ" she said and paused for his reaction.
He barely smiled
She followed him like MJ followed her... without the purring...
He went to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water from the frig
Her dinner utensils were drying neatly on a clean towel
"Did you eat dinner?" she asked politely
"Umm.. I ate ... some" he said not looking at her
"I can make eggs?" she asked
"If you are hungry go right ahead" he urged
"i already ate no?" she pointed to her stuff drying on the rack
"Then thanks... I am good" he reached for the lights to shut it out
She scampered behind him
"Your mother is not home" she said reminding him he needed to worry and not go into his room and lock himself up
"Umm.. yeah... she texted me" he said patiently
"Oh?"
"She has my number Trisha" he responded amused.. relaxing a bit
"MJ has a new friend"
"Prasad have a girlfriend now?" he asked
"Nooo" she said incredulously
"Why is that so implausible?" he asked
"whats that word?" she asked
"Umm.. never mind... who is the friend?"
"A kitten" she smiled wide
"Oh?" great then
"You are not talking to me?" she said sadly as he approached his room
"I had a long game and Chirag clobbered me Trisha so I am tired" he lied
"What game?" she asked
"Squash" he said patiently
She didnt know what the game was or how it was played
The fact was he was done talking
"Ashwinnn" she begged
He leaned on his doorjamb
"Did u call your father?" he asked grimly
She nodded
"He said everything is OK... Rao Anna has flu so he is not coming. He said I should be safe" she told him everything
He nodded
"Did he ask about me?" he asked quietly
She shook her head slowly
"Great" he said unable to hide his butt hurt expression
"But I didnt say anything about you" she explained her Dad's aloofness
He looked at her wordlessly
"Why are you upset?" she asked boldly... and then lowered her gaze self consciously
"You did not tell me you were meeting Dadu behind my back"
"He came one day, and asked me to make coffee and not to tell you" she said
"And so u kept your word"
She nodded hurt
"He has never looked at me like he cares for me... atleast not in my adult life.. I am livid he is playing these juvenile games with me" he raised his voice
"You also never told me why you are marrying me" she said softly
"So you thought it was good payback then?" he challenged
"I am just saying"
"Trisha I am in no mood to argue" he said exasperated
"You are very grumpy"
"Excuse me?" he was not happy
"I have been asking you for 25 minutes" she raised her voice
"YOU COUNTED how long you paid attention to me?" he was more hurt
"You came at 12:17 AM, its 12: 42 AM" she showed her phone
"Thanks for the time then?" he said sarcastically
"He told me not to say" she raised her voice teary eyed
"So u did good..." he said
"If I did good then why are you upset?" she asked logically
"Tris... umm... never mind... I dont want to answer that Q"
"I should not have stayed awake"
"Oh so... another thing thats my fault?" he asked
She shook her head and walked to her room taking her glasses off wiping her tears
Their first fight...
