Not Friends..

She clung to him like she would never let go, and the way he was holding her was like he would never let her go.
"Youve lost weight" he growled huskily thumbing her now pronounced rib cage

"You are also not fat" she muttered on his neck

"Ive been fixing meals with my left hand" he grinned (my arm was broken thats why I lost weight)

"So its not because of me?" she asked spontaneously, disoriented after the senseless kissing, letting her innermost feelings out

"Trish"

She tried to pull away, he held on firmly

"Did you bring my stuff?"

"No.. I dont plan to either" he said sighing audibly

She floated back to earth when he said that, hitting the ground softly

He bend down and nibbled her cheek.
His scent delicious and cool in the moist muggy kitchen.

"You are salty" he whispered tonguing her face

"Trish" he groaned

She stood still letting her arms drop, allowing him access to her face and neck
"Are you better now?" she asked softly

"Now you ask me?" he was hurt, his eyes piercing her soul

"I wanted to make sure!" she mumbled evasively

"Why?" he insisted

"As a friend maybe?" she mumbled

He looked at her intensely

"I have something for you" he whispered fishing in his pocket

He pulled out a key chain with a furry cat toy

He grinned as he saw her face light up in a second

She reached for it, grabbing,  "Nope".. he shook his head with a purposeful glint in his eyes

She went on her toes to grab it,

"I am holding it with my right arm" he mock groaned, reminding her that it was still sore

"ashwinnn... let go" she ordered

He made her stretch all the way over him...

"Now?" he teased as she stretched like a rubber band

"Now?"... he goaded

When she grabbed his wrist, he pulled her dress down beneath her apron, and bend down to kiss her cleft

"Now Trish" he whispered huskily, lowering his arm and handing her the toy easily

He stayed on her chest for a few seconds

"Ashwinnn" she pleaded weakly dissolving into a puddle

He left a trail of moisture all the way up her chin, his mouth open fully.
She hugged him tight, hoping not to vaporize

They heard sounds outside

He staggered stepping back

"We are not friends Trish" he growled
Making her blush furiously

Do overs...

It was Aanu

He looked utterly shocked when he saw Ashvin looking at his daughter.

"Trishu, what happened, how is he here? Are you OK?"

Trisha quickly hid the keychain in her fist

She nodded

"Mr Shanbag can I please talk to you?"

"Trishu tell him, there is nothing left to talk. He needs to go. How many times will he come asking about you? Rao told me you have a visitor. I mean, in the kitchen?
Why didnt he come home and talk to me first?" Aanu was not happy, he rattled out breathless sentences in Konkani.

Ashvin looked confused..

"Aanu wants you to go" Trisha was heart broken

"You have to tell him... I cant..." Ashvin exhaled... "Not without you anyway"

Trisha gasped audibly

Aanu looked at her furiously

"what does he want now?"

"Me" Trisha said inaudibly

"No... how can that be? After everything? You will be here, we are going to be here" Aanu said in a shaky voice emotion palpable

"Trish"

Her insides thudded painfully to hear him say her name like that in front of her father

"the grandfather comes in through the front door, like a polite diner, the grandson comes in through the back door like a cook's helper. What is this?" Aanu asked her accusingly

If the man that had just kissed her senseless wasnt standing by her father.. she refused to translate what he had just said
For the first time in her life she felt the need to defend Ashvin

"He cant have any business with you. I cannot imagine that" Aanu looked very confused and sad

"He had an accident... so he came"

"If you did not cause the accident Trishu he should not be here" Aanu spoke calmly refusing to meet his daughter's gaze stoically
He knew he would see something that was terrifying him the last month or so

"Aanu"

"Please leave Mr Shanbag, I will let your grandfather know I was polite and respectful, though you may not deserve it"

"Can you please let me say something?"

"We have been through a lot. My daughter was caught in the cross fire of something she didnt do a thing to cause" Aanu broke down

"I am so so sorry Mr Shanbag" Ashvin looked sad too

"Please leave. I want her to be normal and happy, you grandfather and grandson both are making it impossible for her to recover. She did nothing wrong. Please let her live in peace"

"I love her Mr Shanbag" he said looking at Aanu directly

He was unprepared for that declaration, he became flustered immediately.

Trisha staggered back hitting the counter

"What does that even mean?" "hurting loved one?. You protect them" Prakash waved a finger choked up, he spoke haltingly in English

"I agree. I am guilty of doing that. I apologize. I want her to give me a chance"

"Life is not about chances. Its not a game. You dont get do overs. How can you get a second chance?" Prakash said in Konkani

Ashvin understood the word game, and the term second chance.

"You have to look at me differently" he begged softly

"I dont know" Aanu shook his head, shutting his eyes, hoping he would not feel compassion for the young man that sounded just so sincere are honest.

"I wont hurt you Trish" he said softly

She swallowed a golf ball size lump, as tears flowed freely

She sniffled and grabbed a tissue and wiped her eyes off... the onion scent in her hands stinging her eyes.

Ashvin wished Prakash would ask his daughter if she loved him too
Trisha wished Prakash would give in and accept Ashvin's apology

Nisha ...Awesome chapter in their lives 👏

Truly commendable he was . A great approach this time to declare his love for the daughter to her father and also an assurance to her in front of her father that he won't hurt her ... added to it is his apology for
What he set about to do to mess up their lives .

Though I don't expect Aanu to believe Ashvin first go on a single day ... after all his own grandfather has held a grudge for 10 long years. Again after all life's not simple that life is all suddenly rosy in a day. But Father shanbag, needs to have a talk with his daughter ... an honest convo with her as the man who has caused them grievance has done the most honorable thing with great honesty that a man in love could do.

Father shanbag, the man came through the back door as he chose the option he was left with ...the second time he's around in ullal for his wife.

But I don't think Ashvin is leaving any time soon and won't be that easy to swat away like the last time

Aanu, if life's not about chances and do overs why do you care for so much for a Do over for a thing like a restaurant. Because it's your identity and your memories associated with your wife. Ashvin is also looking out for the same ... Edited by Errantnomad - 6 years ago

Relentless and simple ways he'd seek
To apologise and proove he's sincere in his plea
He loves her whole heartedly
He'd find a million ways to tease and please
A furry cat on a key chain
A crepe bandage on his wrist
A glint of mischief in his eyes
A TRISH on his lips
Were enough to spin and toss her about
She's admitted to the man she's in love
Try as she might its tough for her to fall out of love
Dignified his proposal is
Asking the father of his daughters hand
Reassuring her he'd protect and Love her whole heartedly
Determined the denial of the father refusing to give up
The daughter who is blinded by her love for her dad
A prognosis of the imminent claimant had hung
He had seen his Trishu languish in love
A wise old man had forewarned him though
The  claimant would soon land at his door
Open and sincerely the silver fox had placed his plea
His grandson and she were made for each other
Unrelentingly he had stood his ground.
Unforgiving and unseeing he was
Turned out the prince ensuring the princess is safely stashed
Distraction the old man has offered by letting her visit
Unexpectedly she lands at his door
Deliberately the husband tried the back door, sure his sweetheart would be dicing her veges
He finds the moments they both craved
To greet and treat their aching
The interruption arrives...he hastens to spill
The sincere plea in his heart the feelings he held
The way he'd guard and cherish the girl
She was indeed the claimant to his heart
He the claimant of her hand and her father's forgiveness
