Meanwhile, back in Gokul, Puranmasi narrates the story of how peacocks gave shelter to the devtas in Treta Yuga when Ravana defeated them all and was going to kill them. Devtas were given shelter in the peacock feathers, and so they blessed the peacocks that the devtas will always reside in the peacock feathers. Hence ... why peacock feathers have those eyes.

Never heard this story before. Mayhap it's from another version, anyone know?
