Peshwa Bajirao helped discover a lot of potential in myself: Anuja Sathe

She is beautiful and an ingenious actor from the Marathi film and television industry. She is known for her lead role in Star Plus' Tamanna as Dhara Solanki.

And in recent times, the audience has seen her as the strong-willed mother of Baji in Sony TV's Peshwa Bajirao (Sphereorigins).

We're talking about the very talented Anuja Sathe!

In conversation with TellyChakkar.com, Anuja talks about her exit from the popular period drama and her experience playing Radhabai. Read on..

"It was a wonderful experience. I loved my character and I will miss playing Radhabai. After my role in Tamanna, this role came to me as completely different. Radhabai, mother of the great Peshwa Bajirao had an important contribution in his life as to what he grew to become and I loved portraying her. Being a Maharashtrian myself, it felt extra special play the role on-screen, says Anuja.

She played the role of Bhiubai in the 2015 Deepika-Ranveer hit Bajirao Mastani' and went on to playing in the TV show of the same historical drama. "Playing Bhiubai in Bajirao Mastani was different. I portrayed his younger sister, which did not have much scope. But playing Radhabai in this show has been a prominent role for me, she says.

Her exit is right before the show takes a leap, to that she tells us, "It was always supposed to be like that. I had decided that I'd do the role until the leap took place. I was fine playing a mother of four children because it's a historical story; girls used to get married very early back then. So if you see, I was actually playing my age and not older. I want to play different roles right now, because I know I'm going to play mother to 30 year olds when I turn 40 myself.

When asked what she will miss about the show, Anuja quickly responded, "Everything and everyone. I will miss the entire team of Peshwa Bajirao. I discovered a lot of potential in myself to play strong roles during this show. And I look forward to playing similar roles in the future; the ones that make a difference and add value to the show.

Anuja Sathe's husband Saurabh Gokhale who is an actor too will be seen playing the role of Chimmaji Appa (Bajirao's younger brother) post the leap. To this Anuja exclaims, "Saurabh loves the Maratha history so much! I can vouch he will give full justice to the role. He has always been passionate about Shivaji Maharaj and the Maratha heritage and hence he knows his history too well. He has always wanted to play a historical character and he's finally got the chance.

Very well, Anuja ! You have left such a great impression of Radhabai on our minds that the audience is surely going to miss it.

We hope to see Anuja Sathe back on-screen soon and wish hubby Saurabh Gokhale all the very best for his new role!

Post-leap, actress Rajeshwari Sachdev will be seen essaying the role of Radhabai and Karan Suchak will be playing the grown Bajirao.
