Star Plus' one-of-a-kind show, 'Naamkarann' is all set to welcome a new chapter starting tonight. The tumultuous life of Avni (Arsheen Naamdar) will go through a complete makeshift as she grows up to become a NEW Avni (Aditi Rathore).

What does it portray?

Times have changed and we are introduced to Zain Imam's character who is a cop and is on a quest to find Avni. He isn't aware about where is she and how does she look now. However, he carries full conviction to find Avni and is sure that she will come back.

We are then introduced to the grown-up Avni, who has adopted a different avatar and also a different identity apparently. She is back and in a conversation with her deceased mother Asha (Barkha Bisht Sengupta), mentions that there is only one thing that she is in love with and that is her ultimate aim, which even love cannot stop her from achieving.

What's Good?

The fact that the post-leap storyline is going for a complete makeshift is refreshing. Usually, several shows continue to exploit similar flavours and similar plots even after introducing a leap. But, 'Naamkarann' has introduced a totally new look of the entire show, which is appealing.

Zain's boy-next-door image is all set to change as he plays a cop in the show. With his role in the show and his screen presence is impressive. There seems no doubt that Zain will live up to the show's standards.

The biggest question mark for the makers was to choose the character of the grown up Avni. After several big names were considered, the makers decided to make a rather unconventional choice by roping in actress, Aditi Rathore. Now that we have witnessed Aditi as Avni, the choice seems apt as she lights up the screen as the beautiful Avni.

What's Not-So-Good?

It is too short a period of time in the teaser-trailer to mark out any possible flaws, but if there is one thing to be pointed out than it would be the 'fresh storyline' itself. As mentioned that it is actually good to have a refreshing storyline, it can act as a double-edged sword and have its cons as well. As much as a fresh storyline is a welcome change, it may not appeal to a certain audience base which may be addicted to the show's pattern.

The Verdict

Against all odds, 'Naamkarann' has managed to stay put for almost six months now and with this leap, it seems to be getting stronger. The leap is an indirect attempt to break the unconventional take and enter the commercial race. Zain and Aditi look promising in their characters and seem perfectly fit for the show.
