Psychological Projection

Ashish beating up the guy who discards his live-in partner for his wife - was a superbly enacted sequence of psychological projection.  This is a defense mechanism that Ashish is employing in order to cope with his own guilt at having betrayed Asha and Avni.

Ashish has realized that he can never tell his mother that he cannot marry Neela.  He knows that he is no better than this guy who disowns his partner of several years.  Just like this guy, Ashish too had given Asha a mangal sutra to wear.  And soon, just like him he would be marrying Neela and in doing so - disown Asha and the mangal sutra he had given her.  Unable to cope with his own cowardice - Ashish is taking out his frustration at himself by beating up this guy.  He is acting out the aggression he feels at himself on this guy - and lands in jail.  This is no solution to his problem.  The one and only solution, is to gather courage and speak up to his mom about Asha and Avni.

poor Ashish . he really  needs a help.Wish Asha was not that calm about her relationship. she should have been demanding of her status in his life. Atleast then he would have uttered the secret to his mum.

You are so...o right!!

Every one tells Asha to demand her "haq"

Ashish's broher-in-law repeatedly tells him to speak up to his mom.

But these too are just too cozy with status quo!😕

Totally agree with u , he was so frustrated at himself n he just acted his aggression out on that man. But his entry to the jail was necessary so he can see clearly his faults and thinks about everyone's words. He is a coward , i don't think he will face his mother and refuse to get married to neela.

Good post. Yeah, he saw his own reflection and couldn't deal with it. So he took out his frustration on that man. Much as I despise the character, I'm enjoying the performance. It's a relief to see the cast's subtle acting since prime time TV is generally ruled by OTTness in every aspect.
