Love the wife
"Kya matlab?" he asked stunned
The look on his face seemed like Nupur had cheated on him
"Gomez ko main Mumbai se jaanti hai" she whispered
"And?" he coaxed
"Neel I dont want marriage I dont want an affair... I dont want to make out" she whispered hoarsely, she hoped she sounded more convincing than she felt
"Gomez?" he repeated angrily
"I know he is very good at his job... but woh bakwas bahut karta hai" she said matter of factly
He refused to repeat the line she said Gomez used
He bend down, she turned away just as his face was approaching
"What happened to what we feel for each other then?" he asked sulking
"Aisa kuch spiritual to apan feel nahi karte, to make it last" she whispered
He bit her ear for the first time, she quivered
"Oh so u tell me u dont like sex?" he mocked
"Oh! No! I LOVE sex Neel" she said smugly
He HATED that declaration like some how she was banned from loving it if he wasnt involved?
"But mere waaste sahi nai hai" she whispered
"Aur haan main shaadi ke liye angle nai kar rahi hai... haan" she whispered clarfying
Payal knocked on the door
He continued to trap her before stepping back
Meetings happened, people met, things happened
On her Metro ride home that night she realized the two men that had approached her for a relationship, BOTH loved their wife
Oh! What irony
Like she was only destined to be involved with married men
The one time she had approached a man for a relationship, he had wanted a threesome
She congratulated herself for not giving in to her carnal urge and be led by her boss
The implications of being involved with a boss... especially in the already suspect moral adtvg world
Gomez would tell all that her reputation seems to have followed her to Delhi
The look in Neel's eyes when he said "I dont want marriage, why would I marry YOU?"
She looked out the window at the smoggy Delhi evening
He must love Nupur a lot, to pine so much for her
He assumed by assuaging his physical hunger, he wasnt cheating on her, but by marrying Suvi he would be?
She found an auto within seconds of getting off at Akshardham station, she got off at Aadhya's playschool
The wife wasnt home the kids played in the covered terrace
The lady's husband followed her up, behind her on the stairs
"When u get late, aap mujhe call karenge I can drop her"
"Saare bachon ka kya?" she chuckled
She turned to find the man's eyes all over her
Does he know I am a single parent? she wondered and concluded he must since he must have read the forms and found no father's name
She was used to such slimy attention, cities were modern in name only.
Aadhya didnt want to go home as usual
She asked the other friend if she would like to come over to Aadhya's over the weekend
"I am going to Nihar's house" Aadhya declared with a smug look
"With who?" Suvi asked in Marathi suspicious
"With YOU Aai" Suvi responded equally confidently in Marathi
"We are busy" Suvi mumbled
"Nihar kaun hai?" The husband asked
"Friend" Suvi responded a lil coldly
"Neel Pandit and nihar Pandit" Aadhya jumped up and down breathlessly her hair bobbing like a doll's
"Oh! jo us roz isko lene aaye?" the guy asked
Suvi nodded and dragged Aadhya and walked down the steps
"Where does he live?"
Suvi glared at the man
"Kya hai na... hamare paas bade bache ka bhi after school program hai... we do karate, we do badminton, we do, sorf yeh ek facility nahi hai hum log all over Delhi"
"They have their own" Suvi said bluntly
Her rickshawwala showed up with a smile
"Mujhe laga aap dikhe nahi" he said smiling
She smiled at him exhausted
They rode home and she gave him an extra Rs 5 for making her smile
He wiped the sweat off his brow with his soiled ganji and waved ringing his bell turning away from the society gate
"Aai are we going no?" Aadhya spoke incorrect English
"Aadhya nakko" she stopped her from nagging
The ladies that ganged up with Tai stood at the entrance to her bldg and gossiped
Some younger women gossiped at a distance about something or the other
She went up, quickly set khichri after washing up, and took a nice long shower and they ate
Tai sulked and didnt eat with them
She sat in the balcony and stared out...
The doorbell rang
It was close to 9:30 PM
She had no friends or acquaintances, she wondered who it was
It was the play school lady's husband
She was startled, she didnt open the steel gate
"sorry aapko disturb kiya?" he asked
She wore her fave home outfit
Salwar and a skinny tee
"Koi baat nahi" she said refusing to open the door
"Woh Aadhya ka payal" he said pulling it out of his pocket "Hamari Mrs bahut careful hain is maamle mein. Kisi bache ka samaan khota nahi play school mein"
"Woh har baat ka khayal rakhti hain"
She opened the door smiling very surprised, that it was found...
And took it from the man squashing his hopes that she wud let him in
All men love their wife she concluded
She shut the door and bolted it "Thank you, woh khush ho jayegi" Suvi said politely
And shut the wood door afterwards
