Nisha remember my BF in Denver I mentioned her kids did some kind of specialised one to one SAT coaching with some hand picked gent and they were pretty close to perfect scores.
I taught English to a kid here in Singapore that went to a Govt. School where he paid 10 SGD a month worked with Big fat SAT books that were hand me downs , spoke no English till he came here from Vietnam 5 years ago and got about the same. My friends kids are bright, grounded sweet hardworking kids, this one from Vietnam a survivor and a striver. It's sad that these kids cant have a level playing field. Legacy is not always compatible with merit is it??

oh yeah forgot to mention the Uni here takes SAT scores and you can save money in application forms if you don't have a near perfect score!
Leaves me in blur when I think what we can do for our kids. I'm more than happy to stay out of the rat race but I don't want my kid not to have options when we are both Not around!
