"what purse?" "I never brought any" she looked dazed

Akka had texted her, "thanks for dinner. But Athai and Appa (Bala's Dad) are both fasting,
there is so much pongal leftover from the morning, youve sent so much food..." and then there was a smiley face

"Dont send anything tomorrow,OK?" she had said

II sat staring at the note

She got up wearily

"Can I get my purse out?" she asked him,composing herself quickly

"I thought you didnt bring ur purse to work?" he half smiled

"Manya Didi hain lonj mein" he reminded

R&B walked over to the lawns taking a call

II entered the lounge tentatively

She watched II approach, her bulge prominent, but a tired face and body

"Hi!" "Busy day?" she asked

II didnt run up and hug her

Manya didnt budge either, she sat with legs crossed comfy, blanket around her feet

"Busy day, and too much food" II smiled gently

Sitting as comfortably as she could in those stiffly upholstered French chairs

She loved her 2nd floor couch
It was plush comfy and she could sink in them



Her lower back was beginning to hurt by evening now

She rubbed her belly fondly, soothing, stroking instinctively

ALL EXPECTANT MOTHERS did that
II cudnt recall when she began doing that

"It must be a strange feeling no?" Manya asked

"Its like carrying a moving thing, thats hidden" II nodded eagerly

"I cant believe how u guys do it" Manya shook her head

Immediately distancing herself from motherhood

"They look sooo cute as new borns" II cooed

"Dimpal's will look like him... ready to get up and climb a mountain range, or annoy his sisters, in this case there is only one Lasya" Manya joked

"Can u imagine a tiny trekker?" II cooed

"U will let him turn outdoorsy?" Manya asked

R&B returned

"Whats for dinner?" he asked Manya

"what did u bring me?" Manya scanned the bags

"Umm... just stuff from Malviya Nagar, agar aapko achha lage to" II pulled stuff out of the bags

II had bought a kalamkari black and white kurta that looked quite stunning

She placed it on herself "Pretty no?" she asked her husband

He nodded, carelessly

He liked her without clothes...

"Stop" she warned turning red, guessing his train of thought

He half smiled

"Khana bhej diye hain Akka ke ghar" Mahavir said happily

"Akka ne abhi thanks bola, aur poocha roz bhejogi kya khaana?" II lied glibly

"Rojahee bhejenge jaroor," Mahavir was thrilled
R&B watched the exchange blandly

Manya opened the book bag and pulled the books out

"OH-EM-GEEE" she shrieked and began to laugh

II smiled smugly

"Do u read these?" Manya asked II disdainfully

"No they are for ur Dimpal" II whispered, smiling conspiratorially at R&B, he looked unfazed

Manya looked at II like II just stole Makarand or something, she had never heard II use the word Dimpal so brazenly
It was her nick name for her bro, exclusively

II curled up on her fave couch, watching Tamil shows randomly switching between Super Singer and soaps
Showered, changing into night clothes and wrapped in blanket
He was downstairs with Ranjan and Manya and Makarand
II dug in to her cushion, inhaling the scent of the man
Picked up "Mashooqa ka vachan" and turned to page 118 and started to read randomly

II paused and laughed heartily
And began to read again

"Literary genius?" he whispered bending down and kissing her with Sam Adams and whisker breath

"Ofcourse" she nodded "Pulitzer for smut" she whispered, licking his tongue, loving the taste

He let his hand slither over her skinny tee clad belly

"Whats the plot?"

"No spoilers" she shook her head, shutting it

Pulling him down, lifting herself up, kissing him
"Go down with me"

"Nahi" "I love my couch" she shook her head
"Mukund is in town, Makarand wanted to go see Bala's Mom and bring Mukund back, do u want to go see her?" he asked
II shook her head trying not to meet his gaze "I am too tired" she whispered

"I meant tomorrow" he nailed her

"Uh? Umm... oh? Kal mujhe office hai, Friday" she reminded
He pulled away, and checked a text on his phone

She looked at Akka's text on her phone

And finally started to type

"K..I wont send food again...I will check with u first" she said and hit send, and set it on the coffee table

It glowed for a bit, and he read it, she let the Pulitzer winning smut fall, as she lay down, staring at Sun TV
