Kaala Teeka is the story of an astrologer Vishwaveer Jha and his family
located in the city of Mithila on the banks of river Ganga. In his quest
to keep his only daughter, Gauri, safe and protected, a superstitious
Vishwaveer adopts another baby girl,Kaali, who has been abandoned.
Kaali is believed to beGauri's 'kaala teeka' - a protection from evil
energies. As a result, although the two girls are brought up in the same
house, Kaali unfortunately is always ill- treated and goes through many
hardships in order to keep Gauri safe. However, Kaali grows up to
become a strong personality and in spite of being a victim to a
heightened superstition, shines as a beautiful example of 'Hope'.
Watch
Kaali stimulate this ray of hope in such superstitious societies on our
new show 'Kaala Teeka', starting 2nd November, Mon-Fri, 7 pm only on Zee
TV.
Kaali
has grown up enduring the torture of Madhuri because Vishwaveer was
jailed because of her. She still lives like a shadow of Gauri. Kali has
been writing exams for Gauri and winning certificates and trophies for
her all these years. She doesn't speak much, except to Gauri. But when
she sings, she gets a fresh lease on life. Singing is the only thing
that gives her peace. She however is looking for somebody who will
recognise her for her true self and not as Gauri's Kaala Teeka. She
keeps praying to Lord Ram for the same and is yearning for him to
liberate her.
Gauri
has been brought up like a princess but the extra affection has made
her a nasty, mean, spoilt brat who throws her weight around and doesn't
listen to anybody except Kalyani. Gauri hasn't studied after 2nd
standard because Kaali has been writing exams for her. She tries to be
fancy with the way she uses English words but does not have much idea of
what she speaks. She takes it for granted that her mother will buy her
whatever she needs or that Kaali will get it for her. When
Gauri gets angry with her mother, she doesn't hesitate to insult her in
front of her friends. If she gets hurt, she gets back at the person in
the meanest way possible. She cannot be asked to do something and she
will do what she wants to do.
Yug
is a classic example of today's youth. He is righteous but not rigid,
disciplined but not time-bound, believer but not a fanatic, helper but
not overtly benevolent - a perfect mixture of sugar and spice. He has
been raised with the right values by Manjari, known in the house as
Peeshimaa. He likes to listen to stories from his Dadimaa about his
Dadaji and feels that whoever he will fall in love with, he will love
her with all his heart. He adores his elder sister Sharmila to bits. Yug
loves music and falls in love with Kaali's voice. He believes that love
is blind.

believed to be Gauri's 'kaala teeka', her protector from the evil eye.
She has been forced into several obligations and has accepted them
gracefully. She is Gauri's only friend and confidante. Kaali is
resilient and accepts the tasks asked of her. Curious to know what lies
beyond the four walls that she has been confined to for most of her
life, feels caged up and yearns to be free. Kaali finds solace in
Manjiri's warmth and comfort.

some manipulative games within the family in order to have a secure
grounding.
Rajesh Puri As Raj Purohit

friend. Vishwaveer and Raj Purohit were educated by the same gurus in
the same institution for astrology. Raj purohit unlike Vishwaveer is

times does not see his good will and instead scorns him. Raj Purohit at
times is irksome and is jealous of Vishwaveer, although he is very loyal
and true towards Vishwaveer.
