The whole mess is because of congress incapability to handle a situation and to please a section of community. On August 13th, 1947 Pakistan didnt existed, so how can it even claim Kashmir belongs to them. What happened in 1990 with Kashmiri Pandit was unfortunate and the government failed to protect them. Kashmir is a cash cow for those secessionists who get their funds from outside. Until the govt cracks down on them, peace is not possible there.

Unless JK is opened to the rest of India and Indians, no solution is possible. Isn't it shameful for us to have lost our identity so helplessly and never to repent or try to undo that by peaceful means. India got its name by the river Indus and where is it now !

but ya Acting strictly against Masrat aalam will further escalate the tension in valley🥱. It is taking steps with out most precautions. We should negotiate with kashmiri people peacefully. Ask them to stop violence and be a helping hand in India's progress rather than sending them to Pakistan.  After all kashmir is an integral part of India and kashmiri people are Indians.

Can we talk about a possible solution for Kashmir?

Look at the history of Germans.  Bismarck worked hard on uniting Germany and making it a nation. And then, Germans fought with France and got Alsace-Lorraine as a part of their country. From then on France and Germany had been at logger-heads. While majority of people in France are catholics, majority of people in Alsace-Lorraine are protestants and Germans are also mostly protestants. Then came world War 1, in which at the end of the war, French got back Alsace-Lorraine and Germany was totally humiliated. In the peace treaty at the end of the war, France made the harshest clauses against Germany. Later we know Hitler captured Alsace-Lorraine. And at the end of WWII , Alsace-Lorrraine again became part of France and Germany was divided.

After that Germans had the option of carrying on offensive in Alsace-Lorraine. But did they do that? They worked hard on improving themselves. They also decided to work with France to form European Union and now France and Germany work together. Alsace-Lorraine issue is no important. A fact to be noted is a lot of lives were lost during the period French and Germans fought with each other - much more than in the case of Kashmir issue.

Why not this solution work in our area? During 1983, India, Pakistan, England and Australia made claims to host the next Cricket world cup. Air Marshal Nur Khan, the then PCB secretary made talks with Indian cricket board president, 'Why not India and Pakistan make a joint bid to host the next World cup? if both of us make individual claims, we will only split the votes going to India and Pak for their bids."

Why not what he said apply in the national level? Pak and India can work together to improve the condition of the people in both the countries. Carrying offensive to liberate Kashmiris is going to harm Kashmir, Pakistan and India. But India and Pakistan can work together to form a South-Asian union in which we can hope Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Myanmar could join. All these countries can direct their energy to improve economically. and that is the only way things in Kashmir could also be improved.

The problem is Pakistan. We can get any number of Indians killed in Kashmir but until the Pakistan issue is solved we will get nowhere. You need to see where the problem is first. Like Pandit Nehru you are not saying that Pakistan is a problem but there is some problem within Kashmir which needs to be solved. Pakistanis are also saying that. Lovely. You are agreeing with them. Cho chweet.

If Indians' cannot recognize the problem after 67 years and imagine that some solution can be found within Kashmir, why blame MMS, Sonia, MSAiyar and all the Wagah Kandle Kisser crowd. We need to join them, stick a carnation behind our ears and sing "Kumbaya my love" to Pakis.

Actually if there was no Pakistan, there would be no Kashmir issue. If you accept Pakistan as a legitimate state you get the Kashmir problem created by Pakistan. And then, instead of recognizing the source of the problem - you go back and self flagellate and blame someone in India and agree 100% with the Pakistani statement that Kashmir is the problem. I think that is seriously dumb. By accepting
Pakistan as a legitimate state and Pakistan's assertion that Kashmir is the problem you are simply making the mistake that Nehru and others made. Why blame someone else as being sickular when you yourself agree with all the sickular assumptions?

I believe Indians need to have a rethink. Kashmir is not the problem. It is Pakistan.  We need to get past whipping ourselves and recognize where the problem is. Edited by AafatKiGoli - 9 years ago
