This RR forum is a discussion forum and not an actor/character appreciation thread, for appreciation we have the chat club forum and the celebrity fan club section as well as the respective AT for such purposes, if you wish to just have appreciation on such threads and no critiquing.
In discussions there will be X no of praising topics on the forum and Y no of critiquing threads on the forum. Yes members are allowed to praise but along with this members are allowed to criticize also. Regarding merging of threads, generally the threads are merged when the posts are only a 1 or 2 paragraphs or just filled with pictures, such threads are not conducive and do not lead to overall productivity of the forum or they are a repetition of already posted. Regardless of the type of threads- news, article, praise, critiquing threads , all are merged as per the rule.
Just like we do not limit members to make the praising/appreciation posts regarding the character/actor they like, similarly we do not limit the members to post critiquing posts as well. In both cases they have to be abiding by the forum rules.
Members are in the misconception that allowance is given more to closing other actor's posts then one particular actor. The DT has no favorites and as moderating they keep neutral stand and go case to case basis. A thread is closed purely on the merit of rampant rule breaking by majority of members in the thread. It has nothing to with actor or member. Just because one person deems a comment to be bashing does not mean that it is bashing. If someone mentions that an actor cannot act or is doing the same type of roles all the time, this is not constituted as bashing, this is an opinion presented and needs to be taken in the same spirit, further they are entitled to it. Just like the person posting praises is entitled to put their views. If however the comments include derogatory terms, offensive remarks, unnecessary comparisons or personal life related comments then it is rule breaking. Members are attached to a certain actor for their favoritism therefore it becomes imperative that a neutral or unbiased eye to look into the matter and deem the comment as bashing or not. Just because a member does not like a statement does not automatically mean that statement is going against forum rules.
Let's look into what constitutes as constructive criticism and bashing
Constructive criticism is where a member state their opinion based on facts, logic, judge based on merits and faults etc and it represents analytic and evaluative view.
Bashing is an emotional outburst or deliberate attempt to display the dislike for someone or something with usually no backing with logic or reason and the purpose is simply to insult or mock someone or something.
If members come across a post that is diluting the atmosphere of a thread, there is no need to get into a war of words, that only makes you culpable, by replying to them you too become part of the rule breaking, which means that not only do we have to take action against that one singular member, we also have to address the others who responded to such comments. Using the excuse that we can't handle such comments, they were affecting the atmosphere of a thread, they are repeat offenders does not justify the response. If you know this is what they have come to the forum for then why are you responding, report ignore and MOVE ON.
Mocking or bashing the Script writers or Directors or the management of Colors is not advisable and sensible This shall not to allowed anymore. You are free to express your displeasure but that should be at the cost of demeaning the dignitaries from the field.
There is rampant negative name calling on the forum these days, such language will no longer be tolerated, refer to their names if you are not able to state anything suitable about them, such name calling is mocking to the CV, Actors and members likewise. If DT come across such rude/mocking/insulting names for any of the above mentioned, warning PM will be sent, as well as further action being taken as per situation.
Targeting DT on the open forum will no longer be tolerated, henceforth you have an issue with any of the decisions made, use the PM service to either PM the DT it is regarding, escalate to me or further escalate to the GM. Forum discussion on DT will no longer be entertained, such threads will just be closed with a note to contact the DT, if they are in a post with a DT note, they will just be edited to state contact DT. If members continue to flout this rule, they will be issued with a warning.
Members are asked not to send Mass pm's to DT, instead they may select one DT of their trust and send the pm stating the issue clearly. Mass PMing does to help is getting the matter solved any quicker but generates clutter. The decision will be based on case or issue basis and will be done in a fair and just manner..While sending the pm do use the DT ladder-contact Viewbie then Moderator then to Channel Moderator and lastly the Global Moderators. Coolbies are not part of Moderation and hence sending them pm does not serve any purpose. It is an open forum but as part of civil society it is expected that to maintain decorum and basic civil conduct under all circumstances. .
This forum belongs to everyone and not specific to anyone, it consists of regular fans of the show, fans of the actors/actress, neutral fans, few who drops by once a while and some who comes to create nuisance and critizers. You are not allowed to bar someone from posting here just because you do not like what they post, just like you are given the chance to post what you like, they are also given the same chance, as long as they follow the forum rules they may post what they wish. Eence everyone is welcome to join any discussion here, one shouldn't be singled out for having a different POV
