Besides being a fantastic actor, Ms. Jha has a fabulous way with words. Anyone who comes across her tweets or captions on social media would definitely agree. This prowess with words has also translated on screen on a few occasions where Sriti has supplied poems written in her own words when her characters or situations in her show required them. Two well-known examples are that of her shows Saubhagyavati Bhava and Balika Vadhu, where her words gave more depth and feeling to what her characters in the show were going through.
In Saubhagyavati Bhava her poem was featured in the very first episode where her poem depicted the horrific situation of a newly married girl who was slowly realizing that she was trapped in an abusive relationship with a monster disguised as a prince charming.
"Ek soona sa ghar hai
Jisme main bhatakti rehti hoon
Mare huey mann se
Kahaan main jeevan maang sakoon
Jahaan dekhoon khoobsurti hai
Waadiyon ka jashn hai
Lekin kahin koi nahi
Jisse ek muskuraahat maang sakoon
Ma ne jo pariyon aur rajkumaron
Ki kahaani sunaayi thi
Woh jhooti thi
Ab toh who bachpan bhi nahi
Jisse kahaaniyon ka sahaara maang sakoon
Kuch anlikhi si chittiyaan hai
Uparwale ko hai bheji
Lekin who khoon hi nahi
Jisse syaahi udhaar maang sakoon
Dard ka aisa nasha ho gaya hai
Ki hosh hi nahi
Aaj aisi duniya mein hoon
Ki na maut se zindagi
Aur na zindagi se maut maang sakoon.
                                                    - Sriti Jha (for Jhanvi in Saubhagyavati Bhava')

In her next show Balika Vadhu, Sriti's words were again used when her character, a runaway child bride with an infant son, finds new strength and courage when she begins her education under the shelter and benevolence of a doctor and his family. Her growing confidence and independence instilled in her by her education leads her to write a poem depicting resilience, faith and hope and in never giving up no matter how hard the circumstances.
"Bachpan ki koi baat yaad nahi
Nahi yaad awaaz koi
Lekin yaad hai bachpan mein kehta tha koi
Nahi haarogi tab tak
Haar nahi maanogi jab tak
Haath nahi utthaya kabhi
Lekin aankhen bhi nahi jhukaayi kabhi
Aansu bahe bohot lekin
Kabhi nahi main royi
Boli har baat
Chup nahi rahi kabhi
Lekin na chillaayi
Na cheekhi kabhi
Jaanti thi abhi meri awaaz
Na sunega koi
Hamesha nihatthi hi sahi
Lekin har roz ladi main
Har roz ghir kar
Phir khud hi utih main
Jaanti thi abhi haath
Nahi badaahyega koi
Bhaagi nahi darr kar uss din
Paon ko asha ke lage the parr uss din
Saans rukh rahi thi lekin
Meri jeet nahi rok paya koi
Meri jeet ko dekho
Mere zakhmon ko nahi
Mere shabdon ko suno
Meri awaaz ko nahi
Meri aankhon ko dekho
Jo ab tak na soyi hai na royi
Ab na baandengi payal paon ko
Na jakadengi choodiyan haathon ko
Ab jeetoongi main har roz kisise
Har roz haarega mujhse koi
Bhale hi ladun akeli
Lekin ladayi yeh sirf meri nahi
Badalni hai soch mujhe
Nahi badalna ek insaan koi
Sampoorn vijay ki hai maine taahni
Bas ab haarungi nahi tab tak
Haar nahi maanungi jab tak
Yaad hai bachpan mein kehta tha koi.
                                                                - Sriti Jha (for Ganga in Balika Vadhu')
This FC is dedicated to this amazing talent with words of our favorite actress, while also hoping that we'll get to see more of her poetry being utilized on screen in many roles and shows to come.

Sriti Jha was born in Begusarai in Bihar. As a child, she spent 10 years in Kolkata, West Bengal, after which she moved to Nepal where she attended Modern Indian School in Kathmandu.

Her family later settled in Delhi where she studied at Laxman Public School and Sri Venkateswara College. It was here that she joined the English Dramatics Society named "Verbum" in 2004. She went on to become the President of the society and got her first main role in a Verbum play titled "Ritual in Blood". She won the Best Actor Award in the Delhi University dramatics circuit for this particular performance.

It was in Delhi that she auditioned and got selected for one of the main roles in a Disney show called "Dhoom Machao Dhoom" and moved to Mumbai after its shooting location got shifted from Delhi to Mumbai. And thus began her journey...

Malini Sharma - Dhoom Machao Dhoom (Disney Channel)

Sriti Jha's very first role on TV was in Dhoom Machao Dhoom (DMD) on Disney Channel as Malini Sharma, one of 4 school girls who form their own musical group called the Pink Band. Sriti played the shy and superstitious, Malini, who is more comfortable singing Bhajans and who goes against her strict father's wishes when she decides to join the band as the keyboard player. Her cute chemistry with Vikrant Massey, as Aamir, was much appreciated by fans of the show.

Sunaina Kotak - Jiya Jale (9X)
Sriti really arrived on the scene with the lead role in Jiya Jale on 9X channel. She played Sunaina Kotak, an ordinary girl-next-door, who goes through the trials and tribulations of falling in love. She made a great pair with Saurabh Pandey but Jiya Jale was the show in which her talent started getting noticed.

Sudha Sharma / Devika - Jyoti (Imagine TV)
The role that really brought out the true actor in Sriti, and brought her recognition, was that of Sudha Sharma in Jyoti on Imagine TV. She played the younger sister of the title character, who suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder in the show. In spite of of her role being that of a parallel lead, her brilliant performance as the timid and weak Sudha and her bold and glamorous alter-ego, Devika, made her stand out from the rest of the huge cast. Sudha/Devika's track paired with her chemistry with Alok Narula was one of the most popular tracks of Jyoti. It remains among her best performances so far.

Princess Suhani - Shaurya Aur Suhani (Star Plus)
At the same time as Jyoti, Sriti signed on to play the role of Suhani in the Fantasy Love Story Shaurya Aur Suhani (SAS) on Star Plus. She played the proud and fiesty Princess Suhani who falls in love with Shaurya. After Jiya Jale, she was again paired opposite Saurabh Pandey as Shaurya. The pair was appreciated for their constantly bickering romance and chemistry.

Sandhya Savratkar / Vrinda - Rakt Sambandh (Imagine TV)
Sriti's next role was equally challenging as Sandhya in Rakt Sambandh on Imagine TV. She played the role of a blind girl who finds herself married into an aristocratic family with a dark secret, and on regaining her eyesight, goes on to take revenge on them in the guise of Vrinda, a tapori. Sriti handled the characters of the intuitive but helpless Sandhya as well as the colourful and tomboyish Vrinda with equal flair. Her chemistry with Dhruv Bhandari, who played her husband Yuvraj, and Naman Shaw who played Neeraj were appreciated.

Jhanvi Dobriyal / Sia Raghavendra Pratap Singh - Dil Se Di Dua.Saubhagyawati Bhava? (Life OK)
Sriti rose to popularity thanks to the role of Jhanvi /Sia in Saubhagyawati Bhava on channel Life OK. She played Jhanvi, a victim of domestic violence who after bearing daily torture from her abusive husband and suffering a miscarriage manages to escape, takes on the new identity of Sia, and with the help of a mechanic brings about justice for herself and puts her husband behind bars. Her chemistry with Harshad Chopra who plays Raghav, her savior and love interest was extremely popular. They became one of the best Jodi's of Indian television despite not getting much romantic scenes.

Ganga - Balika Vadhu (Colors)
Sriti entered the long running show Balika Vadhu in January, as a bold, rustic, illiterate Rajasthani village girl and young mother to a one year old who is a victim of child marriage and is badly ill-treated by her in-laws and husband. She tries running away whereby her husband, Ratan Singh, beats her almost to death and takes away her son. She is saved by Dr. Jagdish Singh (Jagya) and is given refuge in his family's mansion after which she is soon reunited with her son, Mannu. Jagya and his family encourages Ganga to restart her education and become independent by training to be a nurse. Her Jodi with Shashank Vyas who plays Jagya also became popular.

Pragya Arora - Kumkum Bhagya (Zee TV)

Sriti is currently seen as the main lead in the Balaji show, Kumkum Bhagya which is also the No. 1 show on Zee TV and also one of the Top 5 shows on Indian Television. She plays the role of Pragya Arora, an extremely practical and serious Associate Professor who doesn't believe in dreams and for whom family means everything. Despite swearing off love and marriage after repeated rejections, broken alliances and heartbreak, she is finally forced to marry for the sake of her mother's health. She finds herself married to a famous rockstar only to discover that she was trapped into this relationship due to a huge misunderstanding on the part of her husband. Despite their mutual dislike, how these two people belonging to two different worlds, and being polar opposites find love, trust and understanding with each other forms the crux of this story. Her pair with Shabbir Ahluwalia is already one of the most popular jodis on Indian TV and their cute fights and nok-jhoks are a highlight of the show. This show marks the first time that Sriti is working with Ekta Kapoor.Edited by lazee.bee - 7 years ago
